Just bought one of these, stunning Panasonic TH50PX600 with cabinet. Thought I'd spread the news about this bargain at Digital Direct!

The site says:

The Panasonic TH-50PX600 is a stunning 50" Viera High Definition Plasma Television with Digital TV tuner, Viera Colour Management System and SD-mpeg4/jpeg playback. This is the ultimate television experience with henced picture quality via panasonic´s v-real technology.

Viera´s V-Real Technology
V-Real is the collective name for Panasonic´s innovative picture-enhancing technologies. Proud to produce Viera´s key devices in-house from processor to driver to panel Panasonic ensures the very best in plasma performance. The V-Real processor processes the raw video signal it receives, outputting an incredibly high-quality signal recognised by the driver.

Crisp and Clear images made possible with V-Real
The PX600 range includes a new digital processing chip-set which processes the HD video signal in its original condition, without down conversion. Meanwhile, the Digital Re-Mastering Processor up-converts standard definition video signals to provide highly expressive images with exceptional detail.

Thanks to V-Real Gamma Control, maximum 11.5 bit video processing makes it possible to reproduce an outstanding 29 billion colours with 3,072 equivalent steps of gradation. The picture noise and black blocking that occur with insufficient gradation is suppressed even in scenes with intimate detail, resulting in rich texture to even the finest movie details.

Bright and beautiful colours made possible with V-Real
Panasonic´s V-Real technology offers vibrancy and richness to blacks and colours. The Advanced 3D Colour Management System achieves precise control based on 3D management in the colour difference plane and brightness directions. Colour, brightness and luminosity are independently detected to produce the optimal quality in each, resulting in reproduction of colours that are bright and beautiful.

Panasonic´s Contrast Management System optimises the contrast by matching it to the images in each scene. Instead of losing gradation by making part of the image too bright or too dark, this new technology applies just the right amount of contrast correction for each part of the scene

Are you absolutely sure you bought the 42PX600 for £899???? If you did then maybe you could share the offer with us!

However, I suspect that you actually got the 42PX60. The PX600 looks better (matter of opinion), has picture-in-picture an SD slot and has better sound.

Also the 50" also appears not to suffer from the purple snakes that seem to affect the 42" version - though a fix is available now.

Depends what you're talking about i suppose ;-)

That is a good price for the PX600 50 inch. Most other retailers seem to be well over £2000.

Saying that on further checking I found it at Sound and Vision for £1749 inc delivery.

Thanks for adding the image emmajk42!

Looked at the TH50PX60 but figured that the PX600 offered more and seemed to have resolved quite a few of the problems the PX60 had. Should arrive in the next couple of days, can't wait! :w00t:

Hey spudgun, well found, I checked their prices the other day and it was 1900 at least, bought from Digital Direct yesterday and you're right, today the price seems to be £1749 inc delivery from Sound and Vision. That really is a great price!

Sound and Vision are basically the same company as DigitalDirect. The difference being one displays the prices including delivery and the other excludes delivery. Sound & Vision does have a real shop for you to see the TV. Normally the prices are exactly the same when you take delivery into account. So I expect that S&V or Digital Direct have got the price wrong. Expect them to even up soon! The OP may wish to cancel with DD and reorder with S&V. They will be getting the same set from the same warehouse.

On the subject of "the PX600 offered more and seemed to have resolved quite a few of the problems the PX60 had.".... As far as I am aware the PX600 has just the same issues as the PX60 picture wise as I am pretty sure it is the same panel/processing. The differences are those I listed above. The 50" in both the PX600 and PX60 don't seem to be affected by the purple snakes issue that the 37 and 42" models do though.

Welcome to Hukd's positron and thanks the post!

I would personally rather buy 2 42PX60 with 2 cabinets for same price as one of these

It's a free world!

The cheapest Panny 50" was £1500 2 months ago and that was with the pedestal stand... so this looks good for an uprated model with cab. You can't compare really a 42" with a 50". If you want a 50" then 2 42"s don't really do the same job.

Like I said I would personally have a 42" in living room and bedroom at same price.

If it was a free world I would have a 65" plasma wall mounted in every room

nice, my 42" inch only just fits tho. and i agree with col about having 2 42" for the same price.

It is a free world... in terms of you have your choices. 65" would be far too big for most people's rooms - especially for SD viewing. Similarly 50" would suit bigger rooms better where a 42" may look lost and 2 42"s would look silly. I think this thread is for people looking for a 50".

Maybe not they may have of gone for 2 42" ers now instead:)

Seems everyone preferes the deal i posted a while back....... it's just a shame the mods decided to take the offer off the deals section, so people that are only now finding out about the deal may miss out

Good price on the 50" though but as people mentioned, i would personally prefere to have 2 42" versions in different rooms than to have a little bigger screen.
