Panasonic TH42PX7B 42-inch Plasma TV - £599.99 House of fraser (instore)

First deal so apologies if any missing information...

Seems the best price for a panasonic 42inch plasma, although not higher spec like the px70 or pz70. And probably reduced to make way for the newer models next month. But maybe worth a look for somebody?

Whats the difference between this model and the PX70?

I see this model in ASDA for around this price all the time. I couldn't tell you the spec difference but I have seen both in action and I wouldn't get this over a the PX70, that's for sure. I'd pay a bit more for the latter.

My guess is different picture processing or even a different panel altogether.

PX7B is a lower spec....fewer pixels 1024x720 (rather than 1024x768), 8000:1 contrast (rather than 10000:1), 1 HDMI (rather than 2), not sure about anything else, heard that it had no scart sockets (if thats a neg!)

The new PX80 comes out in a month or two. It is likely to be priced almost the same as the current price of the PX70. So personally I would wait and see. At the very least they will be getting rid of the PX70's at a lower price than they are now.

Given that they seemed to be in short supply just after Christmas will they have that many to get rid of? The discounts may not be a s big as people hope. Will see what is on offer at Easter when hopefully people will have special deals on

Apart from their tolerance to screen burn in what way are LCD TVs batter? I have yet to see an LCD that gives a more natural picture that my TH45PX60.

At 42" screen size I would an have a Plasma, didnt see any LCD in the shop that compares with the picture quality.
Well happy with my Panasonic Plasma.

Just ignore the ill-informed LCD comment, guys... You just learn to expect it :whistling:

Just pulled the plug and bought one today. Hooked it up and I must say I'm very impressed with it.

It has 1 x HDMI, 2 SCART, 1x Component RGB and phono sockets to external amp.

I don't have a HD source as yet and probably won't for some time yet but standard def. TV via Analogue, built in Freeview and cable are very good indeed. Playing my Standard def DVD player through Component RGB is stunning!

I have no reservations in recommending this set and also got 5 year warranty included in the price!

I did compare it to the px70 in shop albeit only with the freeview source and there was nothing in it. If anything the colour was a little more punchy with this set.

Many thanks to the OP.

This is a proper 720p resolution, have tried an xbox 360 one one of these at work and they look the nuts, plus most pannys I see seem to be highly regarded so voted hot
