Contrast is enhanced by the new Real Black Drive system (a pre-discharge control system) and a higher base luminance from improvements made to the panel production process. The high contrast creates deep, robust blacks and reproduces scenes with a delicate balance of light and shadow.

You can enjoy beautiful cinematic reproduction of movie images. The images that are recorded onto movie film at 24 frames per second (fps) are reproduced at two times that speed by 24p Playback. This achieves film-like reproduction than with the 2:3 processing method.

Smooth gradation lends natural expression to images such as sunsets. VIERA brings you the wide colour range of the x.v.Colour standard and the natural colours made possible by the Deep Colour (HDMI V.1.3) standard through its compliance with the newest video standards. This allows one to enjoy natural images with rich expression.

In addition to brilliant picture quality, VIERA models offer the easy operation made possible by VIERA Link and the SD card slot. VIERA Link lets you operate other connected Panasonic AV components using only the VIERA TV's remote control unit. The majority of the VIERA line-up is equipped with a slot for large-capacity SDHC cards. You can view a slideshow of your photos on VIERA's big beautiful screen just by simply remove the SD memory card from your digital still camera, and slip it in to the slot.

when will people understand that 1080p at this size will make very little difference (and the future proof argument doesn't wash either!)

it's like the argument with people buying £70 hdmi cables !

but it's your money, so if you want to waste it go ahead :?

If you can use an egg card to buy this it comes out at £657.40 using the egg code.

Superb value just a shame it is from a Dixons group company. A company whose customer service ranks somewhere up there with NTL/Virgin media.

i was being sarcastic......

suberb TV - the only reason not to buy one if your looking for best 42" under a grand is they might continue to drop in price. Other than that this is a no brainer - I've got a px60 I paid over a grand for and if I was blisfully unaware of these price drops I'd happily pay the same again for my px60 - this is an updated screen with more connectivity. Sod 1080p when you see this TV in action you'll want one.

agreed, 1080p only really makes a difference when you get to 50in + tv's, but then that depends whether the quality of components is good enough to make the most of the extra pixels...in most cases they arent as most 1080p tv's are appalling and LCD's and built to a price....pioneer 1080p and panny 1080p plasmas aside. But 1080p doesnt mean the picture will be better as it depends on the source, it will almost certainly be worse if you are watching standard def.
i prefer plasmas anyway....better contrast , more natural, no backlight bleed problems that LCDs will always suffer (will require a total redesign of LCDs to resolve this), plasmas were designed to show broadcast/moving images LCDs were orginally designed to show static computer images, plasmas are made in-house whereas LCDs arent (most LCD components, especially LCD panels are made by small number of 3rd parties - sony use panels from samsung or sharp now)

no worries;-)

erm.... this model does do 1080p over HDMI..... albeit not 'Full' 1080p - it will accept a 1080p signal and display it, rather nicely too!

most if not all tv's sold now will show 1080p images, they will just downscale the image as appropriate, in this tv's case i suspect it will downscale any 1080p picture to 720p

I am pretty sure you can't use the £20 off code AND the 5% off Egg. Before the Egg cashback used to be cashback to your Egg card but now it is a code which you use at checkout. I am not sure if they would actually check that you paid by Egg card given that they will take your money at checkout - but I guess they could cancel your order. The egg code is available here

I too was very surprised about Digital Direct offering free delivery. It was the first time I've ever seen it. Seriously, at 14.19 today, DD advertised free VAT & delivery. I did mention ''Hurry''

Bit more but got John Lewis Liverpool to price match Sound & Vision in Bolton to £692 but now got the 5yr warranty! And they will deliver it to Glasgow so I got round the Scottish 8mile pricematch.

Just got to break it to the wife now:roll:

DD are now saying 34.99 delivery. The prices for this have all dropped today. Yesterday I bought mine from Tribal for £682 plus £23 quidco cashback all delivered. Cant wait for it to come.

very misleading it will accept a 1080p signal but will not display a 1080p signal in downscales it, so doesnt really 'do' 1080p. But does still look great.

did john lewis charge for delivery to you in Glasgow?

No got free delivery as it is being sent from the Glasgow store/ Warehouse. The price seems to vary on Sound and Vision daily. When I sent the email it was £692 but dropped the next day to £684.39 which was the price when JL checked so I got it at that, now it has gone back upto £699.
