left is 8bit right is 10bit
more colours, more gradients, less banding and other benefits

Assuming this is rebranded EX600 stock for Currys.

The reviews of the EX600 are lacklustre and cute significant motion blur.

Cheap for a reason it seems. Avoiding.

Indeed shame it isn't over 50", 5% would have been nice.

Tempted by this, have been holding off 4K awaiting OLED to drop in price, but would be prepared to use this as a stop gap set given the HDR10 compliance.

However, I cannot find information on this anywhere as it's a Currys specific model, anybody any insight as to what TV is it based on? Unsure if it's proper 10bit or crappy 8bit+FRC.

I'm sure this is 10 bit but still looking myself, it's a bargain if so

same tv here but bigger seems a lot of posts stating its the 8+2 so not really true hdr.

That 55 tho?

Seems to be a Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) screen - Full spec here:
panasonic.com/uk/…tml

"Hybrid log gamma, the third HDR format, doesn't have the capability to be as, for lack of a better word, dynamic as Dolby Vision and HDR10. However, it's still HDR and still better than SDR..."

Can anyone confirm if this panel is made by Vestel? I assumed it would be at this price range...

Can accept a HDR10 signal. But will most likely be 8bit or 8bit + FRC.

I'm a bit confused as some people are saying its 8bit and some are saying 10.. Which is it? and realistically on the HDR Scale, is this decent for it's price?

It's an 8 bit panel, not true hdr10, but good value for money? Probably! I just picked up a 10 bit OLED LG 49SJ8000v now for £650 and I don't regret a penny, looks amazing and the smart features are the best I've seen by far

okay awesome, so realistically is there a massive difference between 8 bit and hdr10?

Where did you get the 49SJ8000v from?

At this price point? No.

From my research 8bit + FRC or 10bit really doesn't make much difference, there's better indicators of screen quality. For "proper" HDR you're looking for local area dimming or OLED and that means expensive (approx £1200 up). That said many, including me, are happy with less.

Must be the 49SJ800V. It isn't OLED and is edge lit. It is £649 at Richer Sounds.

It's 8 bit however if you're looking for proper 4k HDR the like the others posted you want a 10bit , whole point of HDR is giving you the extra colour shades.

It's kind of a selling gimmick like when TV's used to come out as HD ready but a resolution of 720p and not Full HD at 1080p. More a halfway step..

What is the colour and picture like? I have looked at Sony LG and Samsung in Currys at the weekend and didn't see these LG looked poor, Sony very good and Samsung ok? Waste of cash if it's a bad picture as I'd rather spend a bit more on the better set without going up to £2k on an oled

Guess HDR is shocking on this??

Where from?

8bit + frc / 8 + 2 perform very similar to 10 bit panels.
The true performance comes from local dimming systems.

Where did you buy that ?

Will this be good enough for a Xbox one s. Is it any good for gaming? I'm not in a position to break the bank but want something that will compliment the one s/ PS4 slim/pro yet to buy the PS4

I just got an email from Quidco about 5% Currys cashback from 12:01 tonight.

Brilliant price but think I'm going to give this one a miss though

I've had nothing but problems with my Panasonic TX-58DX750B main board failure after 13 months and other issues related to software. Hdmi port failures. Repairs are chargeable after a year too. No updates to Firefox OS either. Stay clear of Panasonic's.

Panasonic or LG49UJ701 ??? at 399 with code...

A 49” tv with only 3 hdmi, I will pass!

I'd be all over this. Great price for a panasonic 4k 49inch. Just a shame the app I need isnt compatible with panasonics

Interesting.
