Amy good for gaming??
Not a genuine Panny, it's a Vestel.
Yes run to the hills kids
This is not a genuine Panasonic TV - it's a Turkish made Vestel.
It is actually alright for the money.

Color is a little flat, software can be better, but works ok.
How can you tell if its genuine Panny or Vestel? I'm in the market for a smart 4k tv for between 200 and 300 quid and been told best to go for Hisense for that price?

It was the 3xx and 5xx series Panasonics I think... but more easily is look at the back connectors, Vestel TV's all look very similar with the HDMI sockets, ie all bunched together in a very small area with little labeling whereas Panasonic made have much bigger socket area with much bigger labeling.

True Panasonics:

Typical Vestel:

Vestels usually have very basic looking rear connections and plain labels, Panasonic genuine TVs have much more text, labels atc and are usually slimmer.. Vestels usually have a bulging lower back panel.
Shouldn’t be allowed people think they are getting a real Panasonic !

Sadly it's nothing new, products have been re-badged for many many decades. Most brands are doing it especially on their lower priced products... tool makers, electronics, pretty much all computer based products are made by some 3rd party OEM.

Often it makes no difference because the big brand name has ensured their OEM makes it to their own specification but in the case of Vestel, you would just go to them and get the cheapest product with a set of features required. I am sure Panasonic have very little input on these badged Vestels other than the remote control, style (to some degree) and features it should have.

As always, never assume and do your research into anything you buy.

For some odd reason the Japanese electronics companies have always felt they need to compete on every level but they can't actually make money selling these TV's so they sub contract out.... I would rather Panasonic simply ignored the budget sector and made mid and high end kit and let other brands make the budget stuff. I doubt they make much money selling these and it likely damages their brand but they fail to see this, they simply believe their brand name must be available to all market sectors for some odd reason. Sony are much the same and the other Japanese companies were the same but they've mostly vanished as they made no money (Sanyo, Toshiba, Pioneer, Hitachi, JVC, etc)

tvs like all tech are built to be current for around 2 years then the industry expects you to dump and get another with the latest supposed brilliant 4k hdr 8k ultra oled qled vpds rtsu 16bit

these cheaper tvs are here to stay and panasonic feel that because these budget tvs are the biggest sellers they have to compete in this class obviously hoping you will upgrade to their higher quality range

the reason for them getting turkey to make them is probably the same reason we get china to make all our goods its to costly to manufacture for panasonic themselves cant afford to pay japanese people and sell the products at a price that will allow them to sell lots, apple phones aren't made by apple are they ? they are designed by apple the software is apples but the components are put together by foxconn

i can see eventually the top range of all the tech stuff getting made in cheaper labour countries even the higher end stuff
Excellent example of Panasonic's expertise in TV engineering.
Panasonic route all internet traffic from smart TVs through their own cloud servers. This sucks for a couple of reasons. 1) their servers go down regularly and you can't access streaming services like iPlayer and Netflix. 2) they are mining your viewing habits.

Will not buy Panasonic again. I use a Roku stick in TV now - more reliable. Have blocked TV ip address from internet access.
