Thought this was a good price for a (genuine) Panasonic (not Vestel).

Just ordered one for my family. The next best option was the model at CostCo for ~£599 but didn't seem worth the extra £140.

Glad you bought one @Mr.Nutts

Ive had to give the tv a miss for the mean time. My fridge died on me two days ago. I think food might be more of a priorty than a crisp 4k tv lol

Sorry to hear about your fridge.

I won't be using the TV, but I've just set it up. It's a really nice set. Easy enough to set up (like all TVs nowadays) but the menu was simple enough. EPG is slow in comparison to the old one, possibly due to smart features. 50Hz is probably the only let down but my family won't notice a difference to be fair. It's better than my 55" Toshiba, probably similar quality to my 1080p Samsung for broadcasted TV. Can't comment on gaming capabilities.

Also worth mentioning that the legs can be placed in the position in the picture OR more centrally, (nearer to being underneath the logo) which is handy if you have a slimmer TV stand.
Bought this Tv a couple of months back to replace a brokenLG . Very happy with it, great value, no regrets

Nice. Sounds decent. I did hear the the EPG is a little slow from some of the reviews but Im sure Panasonic can fix that with their software updates. Ill keep an eye out. Well I could tell instore the difference in the casing when compared to a Vestal made one so its definitely more premium. Hope your family enjoy it. One of the stand out things I noticed about it in store was the viewing angles. Try it out for yourself. It maintains its colour pretty well.

My Dad has a similar LG and that also has a sluggish EPG so I think it's just part of modern day smart TVs that are also checking FreeView Play stuff like BBC iplayer, ITV Hub etc for catch up when you miss the start of a show etc.

I'll have a walkaround it when I see it again tomorrow.

50Hz

It's not necessarily a problem - it'll perfectly match UK and European broadcasts that are transmitted at 50Hz. It'll also be 60Hz compatible for NTSC and games consoles.

A decent 50Hz TV is more than capable of providing excellent images, sometimes the extra processing on 100Hz (or higher) screens just adds more artificial artifacts resulting in more unnatural images.

It's worth seeing a TV in the real world before discounting it just based on manufacturers specs.

50Hz

50hz TV's are literally never an issue in the real world. Most broadcasting is done in 50hz and it will still play games at 60hz so there is no issue

Hi @Mr.Nutts Hope all is well. Mate as you seem to be bit of a tv expert lol. I havent had a new tv for like 5-6 years. Anyways, I ordered a refurb LED from Panasonic. A 49FX650b. It has some marks on the bezel which is fine but I noticed this on the screen. Like darker patches visible in white/grey screens mainly. Could you tell me what this is? I mean the tv cost 270 but its damaged.

Is this edge bleed as well as just bleeding over the whole screen? Im going to call them back and say its faulty.

Cheers

Hello @CheekyMunkey Thank you for your kind words. I'm really no expert. I'll certainly offer my advice though...

It doesn't look good. If you've only just got it then yes I'd definitely get in touch and say it's faulty with dark patches. They might replace it with a model that's fine. If you get the same again then it's probably just a very, very budget unit. At which point I'd just either say you're dissatisfied (but check their returns policy) OR say it's faulty again (but they might insist on sending you a replacement, as opposed to refund).
I'm not sure if the 650 is genuine Panasonic or Vestel. I'd guess Vestel based on your pictures lol.
Hey @Mr.Nutts . Well it looked like you had done enough research to know ha.

It reduces when Im sitting down at the same level as the tv but it just looks way too much too me. Ill give them a call and see what they can do.
Im sure its a genuine Pani from the build etc but this TV was definitely sent back for some reason and it must be the screen. I dont mind the cosmetic damage on the screen casing but I want the screen to be decent. Maybe its time to such it up and pay the full price with the 5 year warrenty.
Cheers buddy. Your folks happy with the 700b?

Yes. They love it. Caught them watching standard definitely football on ITV when I walked in at weekend, which I quickly rectified with ITV HD! At £459 it's a bargain, snap it up while you can. Or if you want a smoother refresh rate get the 750B from CostCo for £599. (This is if you are set on getting Panasonic)

I paid £263.20 for a 55" Toshiba. It's grey and stutters but we only got it because it was cheap, and my girlfriend's 50" Toshiba broke and she loved it. (I struggle to fathom why). My 48" HD Samsung is better than it, but oh well.

See what happens if you get that one replaced first. Might be a cracking set and yours might just be faulty/damaged.
Nice. Im sure they were blown away once the picture switched to HD. Makes a hugggggggggge difference in clarity.

Nice. Glad they like it. Switching over to HD must have been like someone turning the light on lol. Glad they appreciate it. I did check some of the specs. the 750 seems to have most of the bells and whistles. I guess its just a TV right? lol. We have too much time and choice for these discussions. LIke you said the Toshibas were doing the job.

I just called them up and explained it. She said the screen shouldnt have issues. You might get cosmetic damage but the screen should be fine. Said she would try and replace it but the current model is out of stock. If they have anything 'similar' they would do an exchange. I said I wouldnt want a lower model so heres hoping they upgrade it...

I remember when I got a Xbox 360 and didn't set it up right, so when I plugged in the component cable instead of scart I was blown away - both, by the increase in picture quality and by my own idiocy (or my father's)

Depends on your usage, and how long you intend to keep the TV for. It wasn't worth £140 extra for Coronation Street and Top Gear, plus occasionally sports. For me, with my PS4 and Xbox One and blu-rays. I also have Switch and a Gaming PC but they don't get connected.
