Everybody goes on about warranty on here like its the be all and end all, …Everybody goes on about warranty on here like its the be all and end all, this TV might be vestel and not have 6 year warranty but £180 for a 4k 49 inch TV what a steal! Good find OP

I agree, I dont care if its made in Turkey or the top floor of the burj khalifa, if it works and does as advertised this is perfect for my needs.

Regarding the model number difference, the 550 is 2018 the 555 is 2019 model, same tv but with the problems of the 550 sorted out ( software glitches and viewing angels ) there was also a 551 it replaced, this is the best one of the last 2 years, well almost 2 years is what my research told me before I bought one.

Going in the bedroom so who cares if the blacks are not on par as a £1500 OLED, its 180 quid for 4k hdr!!!

12 month warranty should cover that (if still within that time frame)

Thanks! Anyone know the difference between the earlier GX550B & this GX555B?

Wish I could tell ya
Got one of these about 6 months ago - kids have it on for hrs everyday ! No problem with it , would recommend on the price and the fact it looked brand new out of the box ! Yes it’s a refurb so it’s not new but it looks new ! And it’s probably a Vestel but hey who cares for that money 💵

Being intermittent would be a problem though send it back works fine, get back and flickers can't be arsed lol
This is a great TV, lots of built in apps (Netflix, Prime, Rakuten) and it plays films from my WDMyCloud too. No hesitation in recommending it - looks nice, sounds great and at this price it's a steal. Heat added
I bought the HD version few months back - yes it was a refurb and a Vestel - and I'm no fan of Vestel but I was pleasantly SHOCKED how good it has been. It takes a hammering 24/7.

It came in the original box, sealed unit - no parts assembled. I tried looking for signs of usage etc - NONE

£149 well spent

Cheers for the info
Mine arrived yesterday, it is brand new sealed in box, with all the protective tape on and not a mark on it. The picture is better than expected with decent black levels if you mess with settings. The UI east to navigate, watching 4k hdr vids on youtube over wifi really shows what it can do, try find some 60fps vid, plenty of them ( scenery from abroad type vids ) also it plays 4k films from usb stick no prob h.265.

Sound is ok, it never was going to be good on any thin tv, but is good enough for tv. The vesa 200x200 fit perfectly to existing mount.

Great, the excitement you have will be met with that good feeling you get when you know you got a bargain that will give lots of service hopefully for many years to come, I updated the software first to make sure was up to date, I can recommend to change tv from natural preset to dynamic, this gave a nice a nice pop to colours especially HDR content and darker blacks, I also disabled energy saving from auto, this also made everything brighter, I think it was auto preset.

I tried hooking up a wireless keyboard and mouse via usb, this does work in the web browser but that is a bit slow and does not look great, but it does not work on the youtube app which is a great shame, maybe there is a work around?

Still need to find which app is best for my smart phone, think can use that to type on and not just to change volume or channels if so then a bit gimmicky.

Overall I am still very impressed, bbcHD and itvHD etc all look great chanels 101, through to 105, but sd tv looks poor.
I still need to set up sharing, It says can stream films from your win10 laptop over wifi to the tv, that would be great when get around to it, would save a lot of time transfering to usb memory stick.

Hope you get a new one too and are as pleasently suprised how good it is as much as I am

Fingers crossed mines new like yours. I can't wait to set it up and start watching it. Thanks for the Info about the best picture settings I shall copy those :-)
Had my TV delivered today and all seemed excellent but after about 10 minutes I noticed a slight flicker of a black bar maybe about an inch wide appearing vertically down the screen. It appears for a millisecond so quick that many people wouldn't notice it but now that I have I can't not notice it.

Phoned them up and was offered a replacement but it's hard for me to get a day off from work and just worried I could get unlucky again.

Gutted, as I've bought refurbished tablets and computers and never had a single issue but this time it hasn't worked out. Happy for those who did snag an as new one with no issues.

That's my issue too. I get a black bar appear vertically down the screen which seems like a flicker as it's so fast. There's no way I can live with it so shall be returning mine. Poor that our TV's got through the refurbishment process I feel.
