Does anyone with this TV find that whenever it is put on standby, the orange light comes on as opposed to red?

Apparently this means it is running some quick panel maintenance. The manual does not mention how frequently this should be but from online it suggests it happens after every 4 hours of continuos use. It seems to do it even after just a couple of hours to me.

Not a huge issue but just means once put on standby, you need to wait about another 10 minutes before being able to safely turn off at the mains. Maybe this is just an OLED feature I was unaware of?

Image retention on some other sets, near black issues, average brightness limiters being aggressive, very low nit displays.
Panasonic fixes nearly all of that

Thank you. It's definitely panel maintenance as I have none of the other features turned on. It just seems to be doing it pretty constantly when I go to standby and the manual makes no mention of how frequently the TV should be doing this.

Yeah mine does it too sure its on sometimes when I go to bed and still on in morning so I must have something set on, after a few months mine did the panel maintenance thing it did come up on the screen that it was gonna do it.

Yeah my understanding is when it does the full panel maintenance, it will pop up with a message first and takes about 80 minutes.

Whereas this standby maintenance just seems to pretty much be daily, sometimes a couple of times a day. Just a slight nuisance when you want to just turn the TV off and get to bed but have to hang around till it goes red to turn off the mains or leave on standby overnight.

Why do you turn off at mains, thought all that stopped in the 70's ...I remember my parents arguing over it, one says it's safer it might catch fire, the other replied, well you'd better unplug the fridge then.

I never understood this either. Some would argue it's about power consumption, but then why would you.drop over a grand on a new TV and then worry about 10p and year to keep it in standby mode...

Well I used to do it because there was practically no effort in turning it off at the mains and absolutely no reason to leave it on standby. So why not just turn it off? I am never going to need to turn the TV on again in a split second at 3am so why bother leaving it on standby overnight?

However, maybe I shall have to start being someone who leaves a TV on standby overnight with this TV if it is going to run a brief maintenance every day.

Nice one good to know

Please dont take that as fact. It's one man's opinion.

It all depends on what you watch. Most reviews rate the LG C9 better overall.

I'd suggest doing some research before buying either sets.

Cheers, too much choice I'll check that one out I have had a quick look at reviews for the Panasonic though and they do get very well rated

This is a Panasonic feature that helps prevent screen burn
This is a great TV. Only thing lacking is the Panasonic app store. There are no ready made IPTV, Disney+ apps available bar one which you have to make changes to your network settings to get iptv to work.
If you're not interested in such apps this is the perfect TV for you.

Go into settings...help...system info.
Status 4 ..1st set of digits is the hours used, mine is C01540, this is 1540 hours, the main panel maintenance notification kicks in around 1000 hours, mine was about 1100.
