Good price but personally I am saving for the 42" G10 with 600mhz.

Panasonic have been gettin' a lot of HUKD love recently.. I like it Great TVs!

Great TV but I'd wait until Xmas sale you'll get a panasonic plasma 42" for this price! Currys have had last years model for arounf £500 for the past couple of years!

I think you mean 600Hz, though why any TV needs to display the same image 12 times is beyond me.

I was about to say that  Marketing techniques are particularly annoying nowadays, as the 600Hz has nothing to really do with motion.

Unlike CRT, Plasma and LCD have a persistent image so refresh rate does not imply in this sense. The "600Hz" which you may have seen would be the time it takes for a pixel to change from probably 127,127,127 grey to 128,128,128 grey - the fastest time that the pixel can change and for the least amount. If it was changing from 0,0,0 white to 255,255,255 you can bet on it that it will more like 100Hz (10ms) response time the fictional 600Hz (1.7ms) they claim. Look it up on wikipedia.

i paid just under £800 for mine bout 6months ago. great tv. well happy!

I was pondering over buying the LG 42LF7700 ]http//ww…tar
£549 from Richer Sounds instore only though.

spec pretty much the same as this one, but the LG is 100hz. (apart from the SD reader) LOL)

Which would you folks say is the better deal ?

Ahh, I'd love this, but they don't deliver to Northern Ireland, I can pretty much only choose between Currys & Dixons

andynicol- I had the lg 42 lf77 from richersounds. after a bit of messing around with settings it looked ok. though had to return it as had an issue going between playstation and cable box. took it back, now have Panasonic 46 G10 which is awesome. was 750 at richer though believe it may be up in price again

these are really cracking sets, i would recommend these over most LCDs

great price too, heat and rep. nice to see plasmas getting love on here

cheers for that, seeing as I have both a PS3 and a cable box, I'll give the LG a miss.

it isn't true 600hz, the g10 . the panasonic engine makes up images either side of the real ones...or something like that....reviews said, though not bad, it didn't compare well to a couple of other manufacturers' true 200hz...

Right need some help with TV's, so someone who knows their stuff please help!

Could someone please tell me which is best between this panasonic

100% agree.

why is it better?

a review of a smaller TV from the same series, perhaps it'll be useful?

Now that Pioneer plasma TVs are no longer in production, Panasonic are the current kings.
IMHO, having viewed many HDTVs both LCD and plasma, I've always found plasma to have a superior picture and much better at motion handling. If you're thinking about investing in a television 40 inches or greater, personally I would recommend a plasma (Panny!).

this is a great tv for the price...and anybody who is looking for a new tv...yes plasma uses more electricity but at the end of the day they are much better than lcd. LCD is rubbish. Led is pretty good but still a little pricey.
If LCD faced up to Plasma in a boxing match Lcd would be knocked out by round 2!

I see what your saying BUT.... When I bought it I asked the sales guy if it did everything I wanted, ie it can connect to my PS3 and Sky HD and is full 1080p... that's all I needed to know.. the demo in the store had pretty much already sealed the deal for me, I like the fact it's panasonic too, I didn't want a cheapo brand like technica or LG or summat.... A tad gutted I didn't know about the 6% coupon though so paid £549 but got a free £40 HDMI cable with it... Which I was surpised that it performs better than my £2 home bargains cable

£40 HDMI Cable, Rip off!

It was free... BUT I have never bought into the whole HDMI debate, I always thought they're the same but they are NOT... I connected this TV to my blu-ray with a £2 home bargains cable and the picture was great, then I tried the top spec cable and it's so much better... Much crisper, no bluryness at all, the cheap cable had a small (very small) amount of blue round the edges of images and also with fast moving objects there was a slight trial but that is completely gone with the better cable.... Totally shocked me !

Isn't HDMI just a way of getting 1's and 0's from point A to point B? Don't want to start a whole debate but I don't understand how you can get any picture blur on a digital input? The reason I ask is because I have both types of cable (expensive and cheap) and I really can't tell the difference? (fortunately like you I didn't pay for the expensive one though)

The biggest difference between HDMI's is the bandwidth, lots of people say its just digital 1 and 0 but if that's the case why isn't everyone on superfast broadband because that transmits in 1 and 0 too. Broadband like HDMI's are affected by distance (much smaller in HDMI but can make a bit of a difference on longer cable runs) and the quality of cable used, I am not suggesting you should spend a fortune on high end cables but I wouldn't want to compromise my TV's performance by sticking the cheapest cable I could find into the back of it.

What are you talking about? lol

Firstly, when talking of Hz or Mhz, there is a wide range of things this actually means, ranging from computations per second, or simply the amount of times ( frequency ) something is done per second. If i were able to clap my hands 20 times per second, one "could" say i was clapping my hands at 20hz. Now lets say bob was clicking his fingers 50 times per second, we "could" say he was clicking them at 50hz, so to state bob is superior to me (20hz vs 50hz), without knowing what the Hz refers to is utterly pointless.

LCD and Plasma are different technology, and therefore the "100hz" v "600Hz" aren't comparable, as they refer to completely different things.

In LCD the Hz rate makes a difference to the response time you refer to, and motion blur, but in Plasma, it applies to the sub field, previous plasmas already used 400hz, so now its been improved to 600hz, this number just related to the number of times the phosphors are lit per second, and not the amount of times the screen refreshes .

I cannot be bothered to bore everyone with more specifics, im sure google will help.

All these Hz numbers are used just to confuse buyers into thinking the more the better.
