Similar to the other model on at the moment with the addition of 100hz, uses a little less power and has slightly different dimensions. Available for home deliver or collection in store.
Available at pic mania for the same by delivery is added, if you can be bothered with the hassle.

a 50" tv is cheap at this price, but a panasonic as well. dont think this deal will last long. smokin!

Any reviews?

Spec may put some people off:

2 x HDMI only
No 3D
No Smart features

only thing putting me off there is 2 HDMI but for that price I could live with it! heat added.

It's actually a 50hz tv, it's 100hz backlight blinking which is the tv scanning at 50hz and the backlight blinking at 50hz aswell. So may get motion blur. They also using the VA panel which is good for deep blacks and view angles.

Cheaper at John Lewis if the same model £499

TX-L50B6B is still £499 delivered from John Lewis (inc 5 year warranty)

I have one and despite being only 50hz I don’t see much in the way of judder or blur. It has an IPS screen so excellent viewing angles and it also has pretty decent blacks.

Has access to iplayer via red button apparently, that's about as smart as it gets lol. I'm quite happy in a way that TV's like this exist, I have a ps3 and Xbox 360 (soon to be 4 and one :D) and Virgin HD, so I don't need the smart features. And my receiver has 8 hdmi inputs so I don't need many of them, just a big monitor really lol. Obviously I'm not knocking smart TV's, everything in one box is obviously a wife pleaser!!

Smart TV features are overrated. Looks cool but actually most people never use them as they own a smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Not knocking the features,it's just on their current guide, they offer little actual value.

No 3D is a positive not a negative...

You can buy a HDMI splitter if needs be

Just get a ps3 it's the absolute hub of my av kit!

surely there has to be a big price drop on these things ???

Considering they were over 2 grand 24 months ago I think the price has come down quite a bit.

...are you waiting til they make Frosties boxes big enough that one of these will fall out??

I mean, I know it's a deal website and all but some of the price-expectation around here is unbelievable. 256Gb premium SSDs and people are like "Cold. £100 or less no more." Now a 50" Panasonic with not-TN screen technology for less than I charge your mum (£10 an inch) and it starts.

So, is it this model or the TX-L50B6B at J.Lewis for £499? Right now I am sensing this Currys model is the slightly better of the two spec-wise. The only thing that sways me still to the JL deal is the 5 year guarantee.

Can anyone detail what this has over the TX-L50B6B? 100Hz and the "Red button iplayer" are the two features that seem to stand out.
Are they using the same IPS-LED panel?

Finally, can anyone clarify how iPlayer on the Red button works? I have never come across that before - i.e. does it stream on-demand?!

great!! cheers!!

Sorry this might be a bit late but the 50B6B does have an IPS Panel, the EM6B I think uses some sort of VA panel.

The 50B6B has one of the best IPS screens I’ve seen on a cheaper TV for viewing angles and reasonably deep blacks. It does lack smart features but it does have an Ethernet port for firmware updates lol.

Will this be a good tv for Xbox console?? or should I save £30 and get this model. currys.co.uk/gbu…tml

Either or will do you I'd imagine, this one is 100hz which will help with fast paced games like COD.

I bought one, box is pretty big hard to get in car. It's much thinner than the other model that is £500, thats the first thing I noticed. Can't complain 50" 1080p for £530, played xbox and PS3 on it too without issue and the USB plays any files I tried. Picture looks good in the Cinema or True Cinema modes with the backlight turned up more,

Has anyone got one yet??? What's the picture quality like and does it suffer from motion blur. Will be play COD and watching films mainly.

Hi,

Just to advise Currys' website says this is ending tomorrow. I'm going to go pick one up tomorrow I think. Is the concensus still this one over the one in JL??
Ta!

This ones quite a bit thinner that's your main difference lol, 100hz is nice for £30. It's up to you, but I doubt you'll go too far wrong with either of them to be honest mate.

I've looking at purchasing one of these TX-L50EM6B - (now £549), but considering the cheaper TX-L50B6B model too.

Can anyone who purchased one of these during the last deal provide any feedback (or own either of these) ?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel
