** Also 50" for £424.49!!
Was in the Currys Clearance store in Chester earlier and they had 8 or so of these sets dotted around at the bottom of the store - some at different prices, but at least 4 or 5 at £349.99 - a snip compared to £1769.99 at Panasonic Online!!!! (ok so that's a brand new one!)

Granted these will be ex-display units - some will have marks on the fascias, will probably not have the glasses included and will not come with a remote control (as is usual at Currys Clearance) but they do come with a 12 month Warranty!

Freeview HD and Freesat HD
Full HD
THX
G13 NeoPDP panel
24P smooth frame playback
Dolby Digital Plus
Viera Cast / Smart TV (Facebook, YouTube etc)
and a partridge in a pear tree*

Basically last year's top Panasonic panel for 350 notes!

*partridge and pear tree NOT included.

And just think as to how the condition of the inner mechanics is! at £350 I'd say your getting a standard deal. Nothing to shout about as ex display plays a risk of it not lasting long, and no warranty to fall back on
Outstanding price with 12 mo warranty - if it lasts that long there's a good chance it'll last till you want something newer/bigger/better.

I guess you missed the bit about the 12 month warranty then?
Currys do offer an extended warranty, if you want to pay for it.
BTW, they also had 50" version for £439 or so.

I picked up a 50VT20 from the Chesterfield Clearance store customer return item.....got it home, switched it on and checked the service menu...it had less than 200hrs use from new.

These clearance stores also offer a 14day money back guarantee on top of the 12 month warranty. they are pretty risk free.

As far as them not having remotes and glasses...yes the lack of glasses is usually a given but if you push them the staff will usually find you a remote.
Hey OP or anyone do you guys know how many they had left? Im after 2 of them one for myself and my dad. Also does anyone have a number for the store and opening times? Much appreciated. Thanks.
I just rang currys and they done a stock check. Woman stated no stock at all for 50" or 42" guess if i go past chester going to have to check for myself.
The number for the Chester store if you still need it is 01244 393861.
They had 8 or so 42" sets and 5/6 50" sets on Friday evening.

Cheers for the number. Will let you know if i get one. I rang the number and the dude was so rude and stated 849.99?? For the 50" inch I was like what!? i'll make a trip im not that far really. If i do manage to go will keep all updated. Thanks!

The price they've quoted you there is the last known selling price as per their system. The stock in the clearance store always 'scans' at last known list price and is then manually discounted. There are a number of these sets at the back of the store: the ones in the display across the back wall, were more expensive, however the ones on the shelves in the aisles in front of the main display were all cheaper. All the 50 inches were the same price, majority of the 42s were £349, though 1 was nearly £700??? One set was incorrectly labelled as a VT20, but was actually a GT20. So take your time, inspect each of the units, and choose the ones you want in the best condition and with the right prices on them!
Do they deliver these ex display items. Thats a crackin deal
i've no idea if they offer delivery - i guess f they do it would be at a cost though!
Rang them today. They had 25 in stock but the price was £480 for the 42 inch and they had no 50 inches left. Gutted i missed that offer
UPDATE!!
Just been in again now, and there are at least 4 42" sets and 5 50" sets which are actually priced at £424.49!

I even got photos which i'll upload when I get home!
Thanks jayhab much appreciated might just go today or tomoz. Anyone know if they can have the tv delivered if i go down the store and pay. I dont mind at a cost. I might be going now keep you updated.
Anyone know if they have any stores in the midlands?
According to Wikipedia - they have clearance stores in Chester, Chestefield and Manchester.

edit: just checked a receipt, there's also one in Merryhill- Birmingham 01384 418480 - if you ring them though - you may get the same nonsense out of staff there as Wonderman and Cundogg have in Chester!

There you go peeps. Careful if you go for a 42" - there are a couple of GT20s incorrectly labelled up as VT20s - you can tell the VT20 sets either by checking the model number on the reverse of the set or by looking at the bezel which is different to the other models: the bezel is a continuous line across the top and bottom of the screen on the VT20, and is a unbroken rectangle on the GT20s - you should be able to see what i mean in the top right of the photos!

Good luck!

Thanks again for your efforts!!!! You are the MAN! I just hope i get mine tomoz
I wouldn't leave it too long - i'm sure they're open til late each night... 8pm maybe.
As for delivery - am not sure - if you have a car though, even a 50" will fir on the back seat - no box supplied!! Just bubble wrapped, pop it on the back seat and wrap the seat belts around it - that's what i did when i got one from there recently!
Thats good to hear jayhab. I thought they were lying to me. Unfortunately I live in Belfast so i can't visit the stores. Could you tell me exactly where in the store they are so i can try my luck with again
I've been pretty specific already as to where they are in the store. It's unlikely they would take payment over the phone from you then mail out -it's really not that kind of arrangement.... besides, you would surely want to inspect teh TV before you bought it - as I said in the original post - these are ex-display units and some suffered the journey to Chester more than others! Other than trying to get them to let you pay over the phone, there's nothing else you need to speak to them about - I personally went 10 miles out of my way this afternoon and checked the stock levels as of 4pm, and took the above photos. The TVs are there at the above prices!

Also - IF all these sets are incorrectly priced - please don't go alerting them to correct them - anyone who goes to the store and selects a TV gets it for the price on the card that's attached to it (even if the prices on some cards vary considerably between the same model of TV)

Thanks cant thank you enough. Even if i dont get one thanks for putting this deal up. Shame i can't go today i'll have to go in the morning. Haha i'll be needing two 50" tvs no way going to fit in the car lol. Cheers though apprciate your time & efforts.
I guess it depends on what car it is!

Seriously though - we easily got a 42" on the back seat of a Fiesta, and a 50" isn't that much wider!
Well im hoping taking my brother so might have two cars available just hope its not a waste of a journey lol even if it is its worth a shot. Did you manage to purchase some 3d glasses and did you get a tv remote with yours?
Hey jayhab could you give me the address for the store on the receipt? I already found it on google but just want to makesure dont want to get lost as its around 60 miles way from me lol. Let me know soon when you can. Much appreciated & cheers! Sorry for all the questions.
We got a G20 about 6 months ago - that was meant to be a spare and ended up going in the bedroom! So really can't justify getting another spare for the spare we already have! The G20 isn't 3D so no glasses needed.
When we got it - it did not have a remote with it, but we were really lucky as the same day we got it, an ebay dealer was clearing out a load of the exact remote matching the tv and I got one for 99p delivered!!!
This is the one that exactly matches the set: N2QAYB000489 however I know that several remotes around that number also match e.g N2QAYB000490 is the same remote, but with a silver grey colour instead of black.

BTW - you may or may not get a power lead, but it is a standard 'kettle lead' and can be picked up from many places for a quid or so.
Their address is: Unit2a The Greyhound Park, Chester, CH1 4QG
;-)
Cheers for that i dont really mind the remote or power lead like you said theres many on ebay. Then again i shouldnt even get excited as i might not even get the tv lol. Thanks anyway for the address.

No good deals on the VT20s (both sizes).

When I was there I did spot a 46ST30 incorrectly advertised as a 42GT20 found out it was £550 and took the plunge.

PS got them to price up a Pansonic remote.....£130. LOL.
Bit stupid having all the clearance stores more towards the north what about the rest of the country.

Very good prices but it is one of them things a big gamble you don't know how well it was looked after and what happens if it goes wrong yes it has 12 months warranty but these are discontinued products also this is currys not known for being that great with faulty products.

IF you had an issue in the first 12 months, you do not *have* to go back to Currys - there's nothing stopping you going straightto Panasonic (through a local dealer) as long as you have a receipt showing when you purchased it!
Hey jayhab guess what? I manage to get two, and both fitted in the car 50" lol. Thanks a bunch and bless you. My bro also said thanks. Much appreciated wouldnt have found this deal without you. Cheers! X) do you recommend any remotes? Dont mind generic.
I manage to also get cover for 6 pound a month but that covers both of my tvs two sets. Just thought id mention it.
Nice one Wonderman!! I trust they were exactly where I said they'd be!
I hope you managed to get a couple of good sets!

As for remotes, I'd probably suggest trying to get hold of an exact match tbh - i've tried a few 1 for alls and they don't replicate *every* function that you need. for example you need a remote that has the Viera Cast / Connect button (for Smart TV functions) as I was unable to access them on my G20 without the correct remote - which is pretty important!

Have you had chance to fire them up yet?

The st30 that I got is this years product and if anything goes wrong (touch wood) I will be going to Panasonic.
As for the remote jayhab is right that you can't get all features from an AllInOne but I have been able to alter allsorts on mine already.I have not looked in to getting into the service menu to see the usage and at the moment the smart TV functions don't appeal but 3D will.
So at the moment it is about sourcing a remote from a similar model if cheaper.
