Only 720p

It's an absolute bargain for a 50" TV. Panasonic are THE brand for great plasmas, and we weren't disappointed. This Panny has a dazzling picture (shame plasma is being laid to rest, and its HD ready badge might imply HD pictures will be below-par, but it looks pin sharp on HD and wonderful on SD. Much, much better than the TV it replaced. Sound and build quality are very decent too for a more basic Panasonic model. No Smart features, but a Now TV box remedied that easily (Now TV is 720 HD anyway, so it's absolutely fine).

Totally agree I've saw the plasma picture this is a bargain imho

Prefer to watch my blu-rays in 1080p and 4k thanks so not fine for me. I'd rather spend that little bit extra on a 1080p at £379 hotukdeals.com/dea…467

It's 2015 not 2009

What disadvantages of plasma ?

The cost is about £1 a month or £12 a year over LCD set of 6 hours use a day. I read on the Web, sorry I am unable to give the link as this was a couple of years ago.

Thought they stop making plasma ? Is it old stock ? Would still rather have a plasma at this size

Scare story I'm afraid , the chances of a plasma breaking before you want a new TV are unlikely but people love a good put off story I've had my panny plasma for 7 years and is used daily for long periods

Plasmas were stopped as expensive to build and transport people get bogged down with spec yet a 720 Panasonic will look better than any 1080p crap brand ! Don't forget this is a large set too , really wish people weren't so suckered and actually see the picture quality for themselves instead of specification stickers which people seem to prefer

But if you don't want plasma then buy Samsung ,wouldn't contemplate any other affordable high street brand

From normal viewing range, 720p is indistuinguishable from full HD.

Again not all models will be perfect , richer sounds is the place to go and look for 5 star what hi fi models and they also give 5 year guarantee , sounds like you have been unlucky there

I believe input lag is lower on a plasma so good for gaming. I wish I'd properly researched and bought a plasma myself.

I wish they still made them! Think its also environment reasons that they are no longer made. To be honest if its just for gaming then I prefer LED , I just prefer plasma for normal TV

I've got a goodmans TV.

I love my Panasonic tx-p50st. full blown 1080p plasma. best TV I've had so far. you can't go wrong with a plasma for the most natural picture

If you watch everything in 1080 or 4k then you may have a point, if you watch anything in sd or 720p then this will beat a 1080 lcd, the TV manufacturers stopped making plasmas because they don't meet the European eco standards not because they are no good.

Would be tempted if it was 1080p and not 720. Would be tempted if it was LCD/LED and not Plasma. Would be tempted if it was 60 inches. Oh bolllocks to it!

check the burn in rate on all plasma sets, notice how many companies have ceased working on plasma favouring LCD (such as panasonic etc.) and you call me stupid. Im neither trolling nor stupid just honest. Or are you another pathetic little fanboy who thinks that a piece of technology is like a family member? OOO I must protect the TV!!

PLASMA is DEAD

Couldn’t we have had that viewing distance vs resolution chart in proper meaningful SI units instead of those archaic meaningless hands and cubits of olde? It’s 2015, not 1715.

Had a Samsung LCD that died after 13 months of light use - motherboard failure meant the set was a write off. Replaced with a panny plasma, 3 years ago - no problems. Had a sumsung phone USB socket fail - Samsung didnt want to know, despite it being clearly a quality issue, had a 3rd party repair done at half the price Samsung were quoting and now wouldnt have Samsung as a gift.

Mourn the passing of the Panny plasma, its a great unit even at 720p, I might grab one for the bedroom.

Bad weekend? Or just hate Mondays?

Good TV at a good price BUT.... no Freeview HD so it would be a no for me.

Yes I know you could get an external HD box etc etc

EDIT....Just noticed that Tesco say it has HD but What HiFi say it is DVB-T. I'll check Panasonic specs now. Panasonic say DVB-T and DVB-T2 so it is Freeview HD.

BTW I wouldn't trust anyu review on What HiFi. These are the people that reviewed an HDMI cable as good picture but bad sound. How did a dumb piece of copper tell which digits were which?
