This seems to be the best deal at the moment for this TV including the 5 year warranty. I've had mine for 3 weeks now and its a fantastic set.

I know that you can buy other sets a lot cheaper but this has been reviewed many many times as the reference set of 2012 so if you're after the best picture quality then this is the one to get.

looks like a good price if you have that sort of money to blow on a TV

I have the Vt30, luckily minus the issues some have. These are fantastic TVs and blow away many of your over saturated, un natural looking LED tvs.

Until OLED etc becomes widespread, Plasma is king!

Good find, OP. This is probably the best TV out there.

I got a 50" 3d smart viera plasma from JL for £599 with 5 year guarantee, is this really worth over £1000 more?

It's all about the panel in the TV and the electronics supporting that panel. In this case it is the best one out there.

great TV but worried about image retention

Very subjective and lots of people will argue about it. From my perspective I wanted a 55" TV that would last me about 5 years and give me the best picture quality available without spending even more on a professional panel. But does that mean its worth £1000+ more - Not really but I wanted the current best and could afford it.

great TV but worried about image retention

It can still happen just like any plasma. But from what I've read people have played games and had static images on these for hours and the worst I've read is retention that went away after a few minutes of normal TV/video playback. Before this one I had a 5 year old Panasonic plasma and I'd never noticed any significant retention. The technology is a lot better than it was in the early years of plasma.

I have a great idea, I shall buy this as at full price, and then by the weekend it will be reduced to half price. This is based on historical facts.

If I'd known that I would have waited for you to buy one

This is a great price for this model.

A lot of money to spend on last years model when the new ones are out soon.
