Welcome to the future of High Definition TV. Not only does the Panasonic TX37LZD81 offer state-of-the-art 1080p LCD technology, but it also combines it with the latest in satellite TV - freesat HD. Taking set-top box and free-to-air TV channel technology one step further, freesat gives you access to 140 digital TV and radio channels and even offers the option of HD (High Definition) viewing - with no monthly subscription.

Panasonic haven't just left it at that, though. 1080p, 24p playback means that films are reproduced just as you'll see them at the cinema and without the jerkiness that can occur on conventional TVs. With Full HD providing all the detail it's also good to see this freesat Panasonic TV providing a superb contrast ratio of 10,000:1 - meaning inky deep blacks and vivid colour.

In addition to offering a class-leading picture quality, the Panasonic TX37LZD81 also offers an impressive sound quality. Although no match for a separate home cinema system, the V-Audio surround with BBE processing does offer a powerful, spacious sound quality.

With such a high specification TV it's good to see that the selection of sockets is better than ever. The 1080P Panasonic LCD TV has no fewer than 3 HDMI sockets with one mounted on the side for connection of a Play Station or X-box. Along with all the expected analogue inputs, there's also an SD card slot - perfect for showing your digital photographs straight onto TV. Styled with Panasonic's distinctive "lip", the TX37LZD81 looks almost as good when its switched off!

For a luxury 37" LCD TV that's all set for the future of freesat HD, you need look no further than the Panasonic TX37-LZD81.

just ordered one of these from currys £799, hubby's picking it up Friday! They look good to us

review ]here

As I managed to get the freesat HD box for £50 in the sales recently I'd buy a bigger screen for the same money. However if you have to pay full price for the freesat box it looks worth it. There are cheaper suppliers for the TV itself so depends on what worth you value the 5 year guarantee.

Just waiting to watch Wild at Heart in HD...

I bought it from ]DirectTVs when the in-store price was £599 compared to £749 online.

At the time, Panasonic was offering 5 Year Warranties if purchased by 31st Dec 2008.

The in-store price is now £649.97, but you could always get John Lewis to price match it, and get their 5 Year Warranty..
