smartest tech and Hollywood tuned picture quality, with the Panasonic TX58GX800B.

Panasonic HCX Video Processing Engine
First used in Panasonic’s high-end OLED TVs, the HCX (Hollywood Cinema eXperience) processor harnesses decades of Panasonic picture knowhow in a single chip. Tuned by leading Hollywood colourist, Stefan Sonnenfeld, this Panasonic 58 inch TV delivers total picture accuracy and remains true to the director’s vision.

Maximises HDR – including HDR10+
For the highest quality picture, HDR10+ offers scene-by-scene HDR mastering for the truest, most accurate HDR picture technology to date. With HDR10+ each scene is optimised, meaning the maximum amount of detail is shown – even in the brightest or darkest moments. The TX58GX800 also supports standard HDR10 and HLG formats. HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma HDR) is a broadcast and user generated standard format that is set to become the standard for transmitting 4K signals.

Dolby Vision for dramatic imaging
As well as supporting HDR10+, the TX58GX800 is also compatible with Dolby Vision - a leading format in Hollywood and cinemas around the world. Dolby Vision also adjusts the picture to take full advantage of each display’s characteristics and presents an optimized picture for each scene in specially mastered content.

Local Dimming for breath-taking detail
Thanks to Local Dimming, this Panasonic 58” TV brings out the best in any image - whatever the resolution. Whether 4K UHD, 1080p FHD or standard definition, Local Dimming adjusts the brightness of the screen by zones. This gives greatly improved contrast, as the black sections of the TV can be darker and the whites brighter.

Bluetooth Audio Link
Featuring a two-way Bluetooth Audio link, the TX58GX800 makes the most of this wireless connectivity. Use the Bluetooth output to link up with your headphones or Bluetooth speaker. Alternatively, send Bluetooth sound from your smartphone, tablet or other Bluetooth enabled device to the TV and listen through the TV’s speakers.

Voice Assistant – Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa compatible*
Voice Assistant means you simply have to speak to bring up content and search results. Now featuring Google Home and Amazon Alexa Voice Assistant is more powerful than ever. Google Home integrates with services such as Google Photos and Google Maps to make your TV an even greater source of entertainment. *Requires compatible Alexa or Google speaker.

All smart
When it comes to smart TV flexibility, the TX58GX800B has all the features you need. A full web browser complements a wide range of web apps. DLNA certified streaming makes it easy to transfer music and video files from your home computer, laptop or NAS drive to the TV. Also standard is Swipe and Share functionality. Swipe and share lets you use the Panasonic Remote TV app for smartphone media sharing. By using the app on your smartphone or tablet you can easily stream pictures, 4K videos and music straight to the TV - no cables required.

Freeview Play for easy access to catch-up TV
This Panasonic also features Freeview Play. This combines catch-up TV, on-demand services and live television to make it easy to watch what you want, when you want. It’s free from subscription and compatible with existing broadband services, while BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5 are available without having to open specific apps, giving effortless scroll-back TV (requires broadband Internet connection with a minimum speed of 2Mbps).

Experience the cinematic thrill of Hollywood, with the fine-tuned precision of the Panasonic TX58GX800B.

I'd probably wait for a TV with all the features tbh.
The OS is still proprietary though... Also is it still 50Hz panel?

Yeah, so if 2200 is 100Hz, 1600 can't be the same surely?

I don’t know! But I think refresh rate could vary a lot from the newer processor? I did ask for someone to help clarify? I’m NOT a TV expert & just posted a Very hot Deal as this is a Dolby Vision & HDR+

Definitely only a 50hz panel
can get oled and qled for £100 more. which are significantly better tvs.

all be it 3 inchs smaller.

i would avoid for the price, spend and exyra 100 and get Samsung qled or lg oled 55inch.

Yeah, I just looked that up; looks like a 50/60Hz panel which is a shame given it is over £800 bit of kit. Also, Panasonic running a bespoke platform with limited apps puts another dampener on things. Shame as this was looking quite promising...

A good point but to be fair most platforms are pretty bespoke. LG/Samsung being the most common I guess? Most take OS code base from an open source variant then customise. Might be an issue in terms of future updates etc Like any of the leading brands Panasonic support all the popular apps. SkyQ plus outboard streamers close the gap when the platforms go end of life.
Yeah, I think what I really meant was that Panasonic is now a bit of niche brand compared to LG, Samsung and Hisense etc so I'm unsure about their longevity.
Haven't used their TVs in a long time but I'm almost tempted by this model.

Need to go check one out irl. Been awaiting stock in most places around the area. Soooo tempted to just cough up another ~£600 for an oled. 🥴
I have another question which probably can't answered here; how is it possible for this TV to have local dimming if it is edge lit?

EDIT, it's possible but looks terrible.

Checked it out again in Curry’s. Much improved demo reel running. Very impressive. Just waiting for Richer Sounds to offer at £789 again and will probably press the trigger.
