Ordered this TV from John Lewis Last week at £549 after it dropped from £599
Just got off the phone from Julie @ John Lewis Cribbs Causeway and she has now
confirmed that they will price match Richer Sounds deal of £499.
So I have a nice £50 refund winging its way back to my account.

TV was bought over the phone from store so assuming from previous posts there is
still stock available instore you should be able to get the deal for £499
Happy hunting.

Can't see it on the website - as they sold out.
All those who bought from the previous post for the deal @ £549
should get on the phone for their £50 ! Don't take no for an answer.

update:
Been watching the TV all night - for the price its a bargain
Deal for SKY HD pleeeeze!
If John Lewis & Richer Sounds have new stock coming this deal should continue

because LED TV is the only way to go

I wouldnt want to be watching old technology next year :whistling:

LOL. This is the same deal as Richer Sounds but with 5 years guarantee? Good deal.

Just be aware the waiting time for John Lewis to get the price match confirmed.

Great.

Still not a full HD tv but good price. Panasonic do very good tv's.

Yeah Yeah and Laser TV after that & OLED after that : Yawn

This site is about getting the best deal right now
not next year.

We can all argue about the price of LED when they come out

but I am sure you are not on a wind-up :-D

Do you not tire of posting that on every LCD/Plasma thread

Simple fact is this Panel will do a cracking job with HD sources and will give a better quality image for SD (which most people still watch mostly; even SkyHD users) than anything other than a CRT or high end Pioneer Plasma.

Do you just hate everything on this site or what? Try asking anyone who knows anything about TV's.
Plasmas are far superior when it comes to movies and games.

Just because you don't like what is on offer, don't give a negative on the vote. Its only supposed to be if its a rubbish deal.:x

I completly disagree with your comments about LCD and Plasmas will soon be last years technology. Considering the price for a Samsung LED tv being around £1500+ at the moment and with the current ecomonic climate being as it is, people will continue to buy Plasma and LCD tvs like this one due to its good value for money and variety in size/brand.
I am also assuming that "when the day arrives for when LCD/Plasmas are last years technology" you will be jumping on the bandwagon that LED tvs will be last years technology and OLED are to be the new thing.

I am actually in the market for a new TV and I am seriously tempted to buy this set.

Great find and voted hot.

can't believe it has dropped another quid..

Meh I wish you could add negative reputation... go find us a OLED 42" TV for £499 with 5Yr Warranty or a PS4 for the Price the PS3 is at the moment.

Only downside of this is it's not Full HD and have seen TV's of this size on here before which were including a Toshiba under the £500 pound mark.

TV newbie here so can someone please explain why this resolution (1024 x 768) would be better than 1366 x 768 for SD and HD? Don't plasmas suffer from screen burn and brightness issues?

Mine is getting delivered on thursday, I bought it online and this is what they say in t&c's.

We do not apply our shops' 'Never Knowingly Undersold' pricing promise to our online and catalogue prices. We do not price match any online or catalogue competitor prices. This is because we are unable to verify the availability and comparability of the goods and the standards of service and support that are offered by others. However, you can always be assured of the same dedication to competitive pricing and exceptional value you find in our department stores. For information on our shops' ‘Never Knowingly Undersold' statement, please contact your local branch.

So i can't get a refund shame as its now £534 at dixons using code 3LCD and it's £479 at cromptonmoore but thats online only also. :x

yeah frustrated too as in the same position. ordered it for my brother and it gets delivered on Monday. The JL website customer services said they do not apply the same price matching serive to web purchases.

I dont know if to cancel or not as the price seems to be dropping everyday, But i suppose the 5 year warrenty is a big bonus? Thats the only reason that i can see for staying with john lewis.

i considered cancelling my order, then reordering when my John Lewis gets some stock in (apparently next week) however idont want to run the risk of messing an already good deal of £549 with 5 year warranty.

Ive had my Panasonic plasma for 3 years now and no screen burn whatsoever and its often left overnight on the news channels if i fall asleap on the sofa !

As for HD mine looks fantastic with Sky HD and normal SD Sky looks pretty dam fine too, not sure what it would be like for gaming as i use my PC for that.

Because there is less upscaling involved. That is the process where the TV 'stretches' the image to fill the resolution, which leaves gaps to fill. It makes a 'best guess' to fill that gap by interpreting the difference between the adjacent pixels. The end result depends on the amount of 'stretch', and the quality of the upscale software in the TV. Less upscaling is better
As for screen burn and brightness issues, they are much better than ever now.

Can something be done about this muppet please? Thread after thread of this drivel, what is the point?

Good deal, maybe RS will reduce the price further! The 5 year warranty is very worthwhile so I wouldn't hesitate to buy from JL.

have asked JL to refund, although the woman in the store thinks that it has to match the same terms, so might come unstuck on the 5yr warranty side of things. However it doesn't say this in JL's terms! so we shall see. not holding out much hope!:? luckily went into store to get mine as online had sold out! phew!

You will be fine, they don't add on the cost of the warranty as JL offers this as standard.

I see its no longer available on-line anymore - bargain in anyone's book at £499. Anyone that says otherwise should get out more and stop reading TV magazines on Friday and Saturday nights in their single beds, rather than heading out and getting ****** like the rest of us that actually have a life!

Thanks for the response Mooncat. Is that why sports and fast moving scenes are supposed to look better on plasmas compared to lcd? Thing is, I love Panasonic (using a panny crt which has great picture quality) but I've heard/read negative things about plasmas.

we have ours already since the 4th, and we are delighted with it, a super bargain, and well worth the price even at £549. Sound, picture is all great. The set up is all automatic, and so easy to use. The menu's are good, and the guide is easy to understand. Overall I would give this TV 10/10.

think you mean Oled tv's and as i have already mentioned you can only get 11" at the moment and they arer nearly £2000, sony may release a 20" in the summer but it will be extremely expensive

2 years at least away, plenty of time to have 1 of these or similar until the new range comes

i dont know how many times this tv has to be listed btw it must have like 10 threads since i first posted it from argos a week ago or so, this should just be updated on dan crawleys deal
hotukdeals.com/ite…49/

We have a 42 in Panasonic plasma tv. It is great. Got Sky HD to make the most of it - it's awesome in HD and for Xbox 360 games. Plasma will be old technology at some point - so what, so will everything else eventually. If you can get this tv at this price with a 5 year warranty, you will not be disappointed. If it lasts 5 years, that's £2 a week which is fantastic value.

I want to run mine through a computer...this panel has squashed pixels so not ideal.

I think I will go for the skinny hitachi instead...

I think for most people this would be the better panel, better colours, blacks levels etc.

Thank you very much, have just spoken to John Lewis who are refunding £50.00.
Tv was a bargain anyway..........really pleased with refund!

Seriously, you are without doubt one of THE worst Trolls on this forum. All you ever do is snipe at people, telling them how old hat everything is...blah blah blah.

Give it a rest, please...there are more people commenting on what a fool you are then there are on the actual thread itself. That alone should tell you you're pretty much universally despised and regarded as an idiot version of Victor Meldrew.

Anyone who even had half a mind to listen to your comments ( and they would need only half a mind to listen your diatribe...... ) would soon be put off when they realise you're regarded as nothing more than an overplayed joke on here....

If you don't like it...SHUT UP!!!

I'm afraid being able to see the audience in the glass of the screen, doesnt make plasma's "far superior".
