Panasonic TZ7 215 @ camerabox

At £215 this must be a good buy for all those Christmas snaps. This is probably the most versatile small camera that there is with outstanding video functionality (AVCHD Lite format) and a 12 times optical zoom lens.

I've been looking for one of these at this kind of price - but I'm wary of these kind of dealers. I've seen people on here before saying that you're at risk of getting a grey import from places like camerabox and simply electronics. Is there any proof of this out there??
And is there any similar deals at other retailers?

plus £8 delivery ......

Just ask them.

I'd be more concerned about the batteries (locked)

I think the previous user was right to be more concerned about the extra batteries. I believe that the software in the camera might well prevent the use of non-panasonic ones. I wonder what the disadvantage of a grey import might be in reality. In the US you can film with these cameras without limitation whereas in Europe I believe that you are limited to 15 minutes otherwise they are classed as video cameras with much more duty.

Anyhow the model is almost a year old so there may be a new one on the way, but I have bought one of these myself now from Camerabox so we'll see what comes along.

Why are the batteries a concern? I presume they take Panasonic rechargeable Li-ion batteries - so is it just the cost of a spare? I'm banking on about £30 extra to cover this

Panasonic spare battery is around £40 at most places

Jeez!!

think you can now get none oem batteries

Play advertise this non-OEM battery next to the TZ7. Surely it must work?

pretty well known for seliing grey stock.
You take your chances for paying less with no UK warranty!

I asked them if these were grey imports and they said no....either Uk or European sourced.

In terms of batteries, apparantly the latest version of the software for the TZ7 stops almost all except Panasonic batteries working, so personally I would want to test a battery first.

MAJOR word of warning... I used camerabox recently and had my card cloned within a few days... this also happened to a number of other people on, theres a thread here in regards to them and the card cloning issues...

I WILL do my utmost to make sure others don't use these guys until they deal with the issues in hand.

Well for me it was too late. The camera was ordered and delivered very quickly. It seems fine. Neverthless I appreciate the credit card warning and have just set up an on line facility to look at my bills.

For those worried just make sure you use a credit card, then the onus is on the credit card provider to cover any losses.

But it does seem wide spread:
