The Main Events by paul124

It was about 10 past 3 in early hours of Sunday the 8th of January, my HUKD name is Paul124 and i am from Derby and have been a member of hot UK deals for just over 1 year now saw a offer by M&S for there deal of the day which was for a Panasonic VIERA 50'' TX-P50ST30B 3D Plasma TV for only £599 so i posted it on hot UK deals at about 3.15am by 3.23am a member of hot UK deals called Faythur commented on the post that the 50 inch plasma was coming up at £199 in the final stages of the checkout process. From then on the my post became very popular with the users of hot uk deals as i and a lot of people ordered the 50 inch plasma for £199 and the hot UK deals users that were up in the early hours began commenting on the amazing price and that they had brought it, the price of £199 lasted until 9am that Sunday morning so for the nearly 6 hours on hot uk deals it was £199 and by the that time the price was changed there must of been hundreds of 50 inch plasma TV`s been sold at £199 and then the waiting game began to see what was going to come of these orders made between the early hours of 3 and 9 on a mild Sunday morning of January the 8th.
So as a couple of days went by of not hearing anything From M&S but seeing that they took payment on the Monday the 9th of January, me and the other members of hot UK deals became optimistic of the outcome of our orders of the £199 50 inch plasma`s. but things began to change as members began commenting on hot UK deals that they had just received a phone call from M&S cancelling their orders, i got a call at around half past eight on the same day as the other members orders were cancelled on the 10th of January. so now the members were searching the terms and conditions on The M&S web site, trying to find in all the waffle any loopholes things like "All products that you order through the Website will remain the property of Marks & Spencer until we have received payment in full from you for those products." and "All methods of payment, including credit cards are processed once your order is prepared for dispatch." and so on also in December M&S made a mistake on a M&S brand 24 inch LED TV again a deal of the day which was priced at £299 with the deal of the day price making it £149 but in the final stages of the checkout the price was £59.30 and they sent emails out stating "As I’ve previously explained, we cancelled all orders as soon as were aware of them, apart from those where customers had already been charged. I am sure you will appreciate I am unable to comment on the specifics of other customers’ orders. However, I can confirm we cancelled any orders for the TV as soon as we were aware of them." So me and the members of hot UK deals feeling that because they had taken payment they had to sell the TVs at £199.
And then on the 14th of January as with a lot of others that brought the TV at £199 received another phone call this time from a manager from M&S, i received mine at about 10 past 12 on the afternoon of the 14th of January i then commented on the hot UK deals TV`s page "just had a call from the manager hes very adamant that the money was not taken from account just reserved and for that reason they can cancel orders so i said that i will be checking with the bank to found out where the money went and if it was paid to M&S so he really admitted that if they did take the money they would have to send the tvs also he said that no tvs are going to be sent out and that they were all canceled. And that he has credited my account with £25 but still i refused the cancellation but he said thats the way it is, also went on about that £199 is unrealistic and that was another factor in the cancellation i said this is the time of sales were there are 75% off sales so not so unrealistic" as well as the other members of hot UK deals who brought the TV had started checking with there banks to found out where the money had gone and the banks stated that the money as been paid to M&S. So this angered all of us because they blatantly lied over the phone to the buyers of the £199 TV that they only ring fenced the money and that they had not received it but the banks said otherwise and that M&S had received the money. And by now members were contacting consumer direct and watchdog to complain as well as a twitter and facebook campaign even a petition was started by Straycat1967 but by this time a lot members where angry with M&S and some were happy with the £25 credited to there online accounts. But then they deleted the orders in the M&S accounts which just angered people more.
But out of the blue there were comments posted on the 17th of January that M&S were going to honor the deal and that they had just received a phone calls to reorder the TV`s at £199. then on the 18th i received an email asking me to ring M&S to reorder the TV and that they are going honor the deal, so i did and i am waiting delivery of a Panasonic VIERA 50'' TX-P50ST30B 3D Plasma TV for only £199.
Now the date is the 26th of January and i not heard from M&S since i rung them up on the 18th to reorder the TV and being told they will be in contact within 48 hours but heard nothing and i am not alone but some people have received there TVs or have been contacted and been given a delivery date and now on the hot UK deals TV page the rumors are growing about the stock running out and M&S might substitute the TV with a lower model the UT30 which again is in breach of there terms and conditions "We will inform you as soon as possible if the product(s) or service(s) you have ordered are not available and we may offer alternative product(s) or service(s) of equal or higher quality and value." and a lesser model is neither equal or higher. Also the M&S customer services have been telling buyers that they are in talks with panasonic about obtaining more stock or an alternative. But the new order stated delivery before the 1st of February so really have till then to wait.
Its the 2nd of February and portobello_by_the_sea was the first to comment that they have received an email from M&S stating that the order date as been extended to the 13th of February so on reading this i checked and have received the same email and so have the other members still waiting for there TVs. It looks like an automated email sent to those who had a delivery date before the 1st of February, this email may off been sent out to ease any concerns but the people who had a call to state delivery date are now left wondering if they going to deliver on the day they been given. I still not been contacted to arrange a delivery date and now its been 25 days since the original order was made.
Its the 7th of February and received mine did not know what i was going to get and got a ST and a UT i don't feel as disappointed because the ST for living room and the UT for bedroom really i feel happy because its also a relief this is over now. This whole thread has had its share of ups and downs and the situation could of ended much better for us the customers and M&S where everyone would of been happier if everyone got the ST. The UT looks and sounds good in the bedroom. Funny really Ive spent on and off a month on this thread. Some are still waiting and do not know which model they going to receive. also some have decided to take it further that may end in court.
I hope that those that have chosen to take it further get it it resolved in there favor and the best of luck.
And i want to thank all those that campaigned to get these TVs and made a bit of history. Also a special thanks to faythur for sharing on the post the price glitch.
I still be popping in on the post to see how people have progressed with their fight against M&S and if can add something constructive and helpful.

Thank you to Faythur for spotting the price glitch and commenting in the 3rd comment

If you feel M&S have brush you off time & time again with such bully trading tactics then contact the press. I'm sure another update of the story will not be of better press after getting good press previously & clearly stating that the TV's would be honoured on what M&S claims a "Business Decision".

This has not expired just yet. Worth a go given that plenty of people had joy with the 24 inch LED. Can't believe M&S have messed up again so soon.
Usually despatches in 2 weeks????? Seriously? oO 2 weeks to wait for TV oO
Gave it a bash. Crossing everything they honour it. But just can't see it happening.
I dont get why people think this is a mis-price? certainly not super cheap compared to others, £649 at Amazon for example, granted the 5 year warranty is nice, but a mis-price?
