Seems like a cracking price, and whilst it's the lowest in the range, it's also £169 for a 39inch 1080p Freeview HD TV!

This is direct from Panasonic too and will likely be either As New or in fact New, despite what the description says!

Care to find an unbranded 39" 1080p Freeview HD Screen for £169, irrespective of Vestel rebadging or not
I was very close to putting that in the description but then I realised it really didn't need it.

TV snobs out in force again shortly..........

Well... it's a cheap TV. It's NOT Panasonic though.
I would rather pay a bit extra and get something better.
I'm not going to vote.
It's double post

Unfortunately they rarely are the same TV when the screen sizes differ on models in the lower price range. They just source the panels/components from different manufacturers. Sometimes you get a 50" model with a really good panel and the 32" model in the same range has a rubbish one. Seems to be the case here.

It catches people out as they read a review of the 40 or 50 etc and assume that the others will be the same.

Got my auntie one a while back. Obviously not smart etc. (not needed) and I used to work fixing all these Vestels everyone hates (and rightly so).

However the panel in the one my auntie got seems very good for the price however panels in the same models can vary massive especially in Vestels.

It always used to be pot luck between Samsung, LG, Chi Mei and others!

HEAT!

Brilliant price for a 39" Panasonic TV with all the things you need to watch.. TV!

Fab review here: [as in real review like real people would do!]

Thanks OP! Just bought one!

VESTEL not PANASONIC

the way everyone bangs on about vestel anyone would think they were a new jihadist terrorist organisation. it's a damned cheap, big, new tv for 170. in the end, it's not about whether you can get a better one for more money, is it? i'm sure the temp on this will be (was going to make an ebola reference but that seemed... wrong) vestel hot!

Video review is for the A400 model

cant see it being worse than tesco ebay outlet tv's...

certainly seems a good price.

Great stuff. Just what we need for sticking on the side of our race transporter to show live timing, etc. Really don't care about fine details of image quality - at that price it goes bang after a couple of meetings it doesn't really matter.

I'll probably have to pay more for a flight case to put it in.

Its refurbished not new.

Doesn't post to Northern Ireland. Great deal, pity they don't deliver.

Litmus test is can your elderly parents notice the suspect bad PQ? And why should Panasonic miss out on the lower end of the market, if you only have 170 I bet the remote for the Panasonic is better than some no name brand!

We may be in an ever decreasing minority as we watch little TV, but this is a very tempting choice. Good price for a decent specification TV, if I could tell the difference between this panel and something else I'd be surprised. Heat from me.

Do not you be able to see that £169 is cheaper than £199 ??.

tomwatts

This is direct from Panasonic...

So which is it: a Panasonic directly from Turkey, or a turkey directly from Panasonic
Regardless: this is a lot of TV for the money, especially with the inclusion of a free Panasonic badge. Heat.

What does refurb mean exactly? I don't think it is second hand is it?

Yes it actually IS secondhand, in as much that it has been bought new by somebody and then returned within a few days (for any reason - it may not even have been turned on or even taken out of the box). Panasonic will then have inspected it, cleaned it, fixed it (if applicable), repacked it and then sell it as 'refurbished', as legally it cannot now be sold as 'new'.

this is not Panasonic!

Just think... why they have got so many refurbished units!?...coz people returned them, they were broken.

I bought the 50" model last year, had a few problems with it, mainly where it wouldn't come out of standby mode. Took it back, got the Sony 50W839, far superior TV in every respect. But all things aside, for a generally good brand, 39" TV at this price, it's a hot deal

Perfect for a bedroom tv,ticks all the boxes,large size,full hd,connectivity,decent processing rate

Purchased and Head,good find

Lool you cracked me up there. Now I wonder what you have to say about these? : hotukdeals.com/sea…+tv X)

I recently purchased a Blaupunkt 40" TV for 149 at sainsbury. . That was a sale offer but I believe Tescos are selling them for £199.

A great TV, excellent picture. look at the reviews

A300 only is Vestel. Anything upward is Panasonic. I work with Vestel everyday at work. If you're going to get this TV, get an extended warranty. You'll need it.

Scenario is similar. Your TV came off the UMC production line in Slovakia and somebody kindly stuck a Blaupunkt badge on it. Could have equally been an Alba badge, Bush badge, Tesco Technika badge or a bunch of other badges. UMC are actually pretty decent at web-based support, and its reassuring to know that if a fault does occur that requires UMC UK to collect and return a busted TV, they state that they will use reliable couriers such as Citylink. Oh wait... umc-uk.co.uk/abo…php
And you can wade through all the branding to probably find a PDF manual for your badge-engineered TV, I found mine in there umc-uk.co.uk/Ins…php
