In the market for a 39/40 inch TV and this seems the best price for this Panasonic TV, and of course comes with the John Lewis 5 year warranty as a bonus.

so - before I click teh buy button any thing better around at this price point?

Also interested in more knowledgeable comments, as I'm in the market, and the one I looked at was the Panasonic TX-L42B6B - if the extra 2" is too much (!), then it's no use, bit it's bigger and £50.00 cheaper (Amazon), although doesn't have the 5 year warranty. I would take the size over the warranty personally, as I'm a big fan of Panasonic, and have no qualms about it lasting.

TX-L42B6B .... B6 series are not a aesthetically pleasing -much thicker bezel and are not smart TVs - no network connections

Mrs likes the "look" of the very slim (maybe less than 10mm) silver bezel

only thing holding me back is some comments in some reviews about motion blurr

Interesting about the aesthetic, as you can never tell from a screen, but comparing them side by side, the smaller telly seems better as it has 100hz as opposed to 50 (although what difference this makes in the real world I've no idea) and an extra HDMI port. In terms of not being smart enabled, not too concerned as I have a Panasonic blu-ray which is smart enabled, so can access all services on that. Where did you read about the motion blur?

Our living room is not so big (sit maybe 8 feet from TV) so 39/40" is optimal size

I will try to find the link to the review with motion blurr - but JL seem to have a 90 day return policy - not sure how good it really is and how difficult a return would be - anyone have any experience of returning stuff to JL without a real fault - juts a subjective issue such as motion blurr?

The 42" version is showing as 50hz while the 39" is 100hz - can this be right?

this review says they are both 100hz but does talk about some motion blur

have the 42" version and have noticed once or twice the motion blur whilst gaming (The Last Of Us, in dark environments) but nothing that would put me off buying this as it is brilliant

I just ordered two of the TX-L42E6B 42" for delivery, £70 seems quite a lot extra for only an extra 3", if I switched to this then I could get £140 off the combined total.

Bought one of these for the kitchen, Lewis was by far and away the cheapest and includes the 5 yr deal. Fenwicks couldn't even price match as it would've cost them money (allegedly).

Seems to be the one to go for at the minute, nothing else compares for the money, although I guess others will close the gap now.

Just note the HDMI inputs are all vertically mounted on the back, so you'll need a 90° cable for wall mount (at least that's what I'll be trying....)

Bought one a few weeks ago at £540, not happy, also not happy with picture or smart functions. Picture is fine directly in front but colour fades the further to the side you watch. Smart function is fiddly and only two USB ports, do not seem to be able to write to SD card, haven't tried disk yet. The drop in price may reflect a poor product from Panasonic.

I have the 42 and my parents have the 39. Firstly these are not meant to be "flagship" TVs. They are competing in the affordable bracket with the LGs Samsungs and the new Sony ones. These are still though the best out of these lot. Picture is fantastic. So are the viewing angles. The apps are great too. I've not noticed any blur and the lag time is supposed to be very good. Unless you're an avforums veteran, I severely doubt anyone would be unhappy with this tv.

If I did have to have one crit, I'd say I just had to tweak settings and turn down the blue a little as on games sometimes different blacks on blacks give a hint of blue. I hear that most LEDs have some form of this. Plus it doesn't help comparing to the gt50 downstairs.

Overall though. Very happy with it.

You can often collect from their depots after only a couple of working days (which is what I'd doing). Ordered yesterday, getting it collected tomorrow, so that might speed things up. And I was told it was coming from their central warehouse first so they must have them in.

And my kitchen is my second living room!

no click and collect was offered

also went to see the TV at JL in Solihull - but they also had no stock !

EliTom

Not that it helps now, but Richer Sounds will usually price-beat JL on most sets that they do.

Good point actually, it was pal who was there with me who asked if he could just get it from our local depot. The assistant confirmed we could or direct from the store, both in a couple of days. Worth a call / visit to see if you could change the delivery? Better than the 6th September!

Also, for those who prefer the size over warranty, that's your choice, but some of us don't want super huge screens all the time (I really wanted a 37", but nigh on impossible to find).

And Richer Sounds is rapidly becoming a tat-bazaar

exactly

and I can wait - it will be a rare occasion when I will be at home at the scheduled delivery time - not on business travel

and it was ordered quickly while "finance" was in the mood to sign it off

When I go to this deal it says £479

yes price must have gone up

keep an eye open as the price will come down again - or if you can find same TV elsewhere then get JL to price match!

will expire now
