Cant believe the price this has come down to at John Lewis, been watching it for a couple of months and its been stuck over £500 but now under £400 on what looks like a black friday deal

Silver only at this price tho but standard JL 5 yr guarantee and delivery included

UPDATE - Silver is out of stock but WHITE shows as £549 on the site but when added to the basket shows at the offer price of £399.95

Cheaper because silver tvs were so 1999 (_;)

Good stuff. I like the way this has virtually no bezel at all. Very sleek.

I've got the 50" version, it's awesome. Can't beleive how much tvs have improved in the last 3 or 4 years. That's a bargain, get it bought!

I think the following TVs may have also been discounted in addition to the panasonic and the sony judging by the fact they are out of order in the price sort and against the google JL price
LG42LA740 was 799 now 599
UE40F6500 was 679 now 599
UE40F6510 was 679 now 499
UE46F6500 was 799 now 599

It's a very good TV if you are viewing it straight on but the contrast drops off very sharply from any sort of an angle. Please bear this in mind before diving in with a purchase. Our family went for the IPS panel TX-L42ET60B version, although at an eye-watering £629 from Amazon for our living room.

This screen uses a VA panel which will give as good as viewing angles as an IPS screen would.

Great spot, was about the buy the 39" for £90 more!

I just ordered mine, £530 everywhere else, gets great reviews. So far this is the only Black Friday deal I have seen.
Including a 5 year Guarantee.;)

Won't order any more from John Lewis!
Placed an order for a TV, they sold it to someone else and my order ended up getting cancelled.

Bought the 39" arrived yesterday! Going to return and buy the 42" or see if they'll offer a price match.

also check out currys they have some brill offers on the tv's now

silver is in man!
but we also went for the ET60B.... very nice

Damn it I'm after the 32" version. That's size discrimination if you ask me ;).

How is it for Gaming?

I've been looking at this model as and comparing against the FT which is more expensive. Was hoping to get a good Christmas deal

Is the Sony W8 worth the £100 extra? Thanks

Is the Sony W8 worth the £100 extra? Thanks

I just bought the Sony W805, my main reason the Ps4 gaming!!!!

Ahhh must resist. Can't resist. Want

BobbyUK due to the higher frame rate? Thanks

Looks really nice, so tempted but I think there's still another 6 month of life in my current TV.

Hot from me, been watching this since September with the silver version sitting at £500 and the black at £520 (cheapest from various retailers most did not include the 5yr warranty)
Ordered one and saved £100 :-)

Buy this now or wait and see what else goes on offer after xmas?!!

just bought the W805,better for gaming. Worth the extra 100 in my opinion

Rob43 - where did you pick the W805 up for £500?

Not true, blacks are lost and colours fade at an angle

OH almost convinced me to buy the 32 version the other weekend. Glad I resisted. Just ordered it. Gets great review here:

Ok the refresh rate on the Panasonic is 100Hz but the Sony is 400Hz,

Depends, both TVs should be in a Lit Room, not a dark room. Also the Sony is better gaming tv but the panny is great for movies etc

Cheers Rob. Don't need till after xmas so hard to know whether to take the plunge now or not. That Sony is a stonking deal.

Can't decide either. you can try delaying the delivery by over 2 weeks incase another deal shows up? plus I think they offer free returns, not sure if they can be opened though. Anyone confirm?
Damn I think I'll go for the Sony 3D tv.

Lol, I can have it delivered in february!

My father in-law has one of these and its been great. It has also played any file I've chucked at it including 7gb MKVs.
It states somewhere in the manual that it doesn't support NTFS formatted sticks/drives but it does.

Yes that's right, mine isn't coming till wed 11th dec and there were dates after that. If your wall mounting I'd go have a look instore as the Sony is thicker so doesn't sit quite as well as the very thin Panasonic

Not going to wall mount plus I don't like the look of the Panasonic, this Sony looks amazing plus love the look of the stand.
Sony it is even though 3D won't be great, thinking of delaying order till January incase of better deal but I can return for free or instore. I can see the price being matched but not a Sony brand.

The Sony KDL42W653 is better than the Sony Bravia KDL42W805 right? (for gaming)

Both equally good for gaming, with the W6 arguable the better screen if you don't need 3D (W8 is IPS not LCD)

So the Samsung F6510...a rival to both the Sony W8 or Panasonic or not? Same price as the Sony.

+1 this. This (VA) panel isn't great.
