Not the best price i know, but if you dont want to wait around for JL stock then this is the next best with the 5 year warranty...

Maybe they'll even pricematch the £629 that JL are now offering?

"Exclusive to our instore customers" as with most TV's from RS.

The P42G20's plasma picture quality is superb..." What Video & Hi-Def TV

The Panasonic TXP42G20 has already greatly impressed us, so it comes as no surprise to find it winning What Video & Hi-Fi's TV group test.

Earning five out of five for both picture quality and features it's fair to say What Video were bowled over by Panasonic's multimedia capability and quality. Offering both freesat HD and the new Freeview HD, the TXP42G20 is all you need for HD TV. Simply connect a satellite dish for a wide range of freesat HD channels and/or connect a digital TV compatible aerial for Freeview and Freeview HD (coverage dependant). Yet the Panasonic TXP42G20 isn't just about being one of the most flexible TVs to date, it's also about viewing pleasure. Panasonic have combined 600Hz Sub-field Drive technology with their own image-analysis technology to create super-smooth images, whatever the format. With an amazing contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and a new filter system, the VIERA TXP42G20 gives inky deep blacks and truer realism than ever before at this level. As What Video said, "dark scenes enjoy black colours that are deep and rich, but also detailed and natural, while neither contrast nor colour are affected by wide-angle viewing." If you need further assurance that the TXP42G20 has one of the very best video performances in its class you need look no further than the THX certification. THX are a separate body, connected to Lucas films, who test and monitor video and audio performance. Simply put, in order for a TV to be THX certified, the performance has to be exceptionally good in a whole raft of areas. The Panasonic TX-P42G20 is just such a TV.

As TVs become ever thinner, so the sound quality suffers. With a TV such as this, you really need a separate sound system for an audio performance to match the picture. Indeed, What Video were similarly disappointed by, "the rather flimsy sound". As standard this latest Panasonic Viera comes with the all important digital optical output. Should you use the onboard audio system, V-Audio Surround and 2 x 10 watt speakers are on hand to deliver crisp sound quality.

As TVs continue to embrace the latest technologies, you'll be pleased to find the TXP42G20 comes equipped with VIERA CAST. Simply connect the TV to your home network hub and you can enjoy access to Internet applications such as Skype TM and Twitter. A useful feature that's been almost unique to Panasonic over the years has been the addition of an SD memory card reader. This lets you plug in an SD card from your digital media device and easily view your digital photos or full-HD videos on TV.

Used as the heart of an impressive AV system or simply on its own, the Panasonic TXP42G20 sets the class standard - just ask What Video.

Nice price but don't count on Richer Sounds price matching, tried to get the Watford branch to price match when it was £599 on JL, the assistant manager was doing all he could to worm out of doing it. Listening to him on the phone I almost walked out, He even asked them how many pre-orders they had taken and how many they had coming in. He would only price match once he had stock and they had stock, then he would check the price and match it if less. Even tho he accepted that I could just walk into JL and order one his response was thats fine if you want to do that. Appalling service in blatant disregard to all the customer service pledges hung around the store, Never purchasing from that branch of RS again...

Im off to try the pricematch with them this weekend so i'll see if i get the same response..

i managed to get price match from richer sounds. Was quite happy with the service actually. But JL had 2 in stock at the southampton store which is over 200 miles from the richer sounds to me yet after a few phone calls they price matched with 5 years at £599 and had it in stock to take away.
