Have been keeping an eye for a new TV for a while and my shortlist is either a Panasonic GT30/ ST30 or a Samsung 8000 series. Went to John Lewis at Brent Cross today to see the TVs in action. To be honest still can't decide but saw the 42" GT 30 at £899 with 2 pairs of 3D glasses, Bluray player, 5 Years Warranty and a free Star Wars Trilogy VI, V & VI Blu-ray discs via redemption. Looks like a good deal to me.

46"GT30 is £1149 for the same deal.

They had both the 42" VT30 / GT30 and ST30 next to each other and to be honest I cannot see a hugh difference in terms of picture quality between them. More to do with the look , thickness and DNLA really.

Will JL price match online deal from Comet with the 15% off Tv over £1000? I have to say I am slighly towards the Samsung UE46D8000 at £1082.49 after £150 cashback. Wonder if JL will price match that.

That one is refurbished.. So if JL will pricematch you have a bargain..
Hmm they didnt spot that i dont think perhaps i might go back to JL tomorrow
the other models have gone down a little, will this model realistically go down further?
always the tiny models get posted when is the 50" going to be on a deal
had a panasonic 42 inch tv from JL, went kaput last week & fortunately its just within its 5 years guarantee.
Because they cant fix it they have offered to give me a £500 tv (£300 less than I paid) and can pay the extra myself.

Any JL Panasonic 42 tvs you can suggest?
Willing to pay up to £400 extra - making £900, watch few dvds and sport, plus ps3.

I'm no expert but want a decent one as I dont intend to upgrade for a while.

Thanks.

i would push them to 800 if i was you
what cos thats how much I paid you mean?
Any tips on that as I presume they have their 5 year deals water tight.
They said its the nearest in spec to the one I boughtt & obviously prices have dropped in the last 5 years but yeah going to see if they'll give me a discount if I upgrade.

I would go down the lines of ,Well i paid £800 last time as i felt that would provide a quality product , however my expectations where certainly not met , i purchased a mid range product and would like the same this time, get them to give you a TX-P42GT30B

Not a bad deal really and fair also TVs drop in price a 5 year old model what would the market value of that be now?
