Wow. What a price.

Unfortunately, this will attract the 1080p police.

I think the knowledge about the blackness levels disappearing is spreading.

Seems to be a lot of Panny reductions around.

Richer sounds alweays try to talk customers OUT of buying Panny's apparantly.

These also suffer the blue face problem asociated with panny's.

I was asking about these in Richer earlier in the week when they were priced at £399. Apparently they are customer returns / refurbs. Not saying it's a bad deal, just saying.

Great deal.

I've got a Panasonic but not this specific model and i've had no problems with it and the picture quality is much better than my Samsung.

I have this exact model, had it for over a year, it's a fantastic TV and I would highly recommend it.

Amazing price.
I've a larger version of this, and it's a fantastic TV.
.
Heat added - or rather I clicked it on the overview page and it said it went up by 8 degrees (from 168 to 176) but then I came into the tread and it's still showing as 168, so I've no idea whether I've heated it or not!

Good buy, If only my wife would let me upgrade from my PW6B which is still going strong after 8 years :-(
Looks like a good set even if it is only 720p-ish, with contrast levels a Sony can only dream of :-)

Saw this a few days ago and was stunned by how cheap this TV was, pity there's none in Northern Ireland at all.

nice spot

Agreed

Just to stop the 1080p war before it starts:

1080p > 720p. That's a fact.

But Sky HD, Freeview HD, etc aren't broadcast in 1080p, are they?

So true, if you want to use it for blu-rays or gaming, sure, maybe 1080p would be better.

But for the money, this is a great deal.

Even for gaming 1080p isn't a massive deal as most game aren't 1080 native on consoles, usually 720 or below.

For your money this is a fantastic deal but this isn't a top of the range TV and you need to know that. You need to spend at least £600 to get a decent Panasonic Plasma but as I say that doesn't stop this being a great deal.

You can get a full 1080p 50" LG with a higher contrast ratio for £500... (Richer Sounds)

Still this is a good deal but the LG is also a good deal if you are after 1080p

No LG has a higher contrast ratio than this TV, their blacks aren't good enough, at best this years models match the contrast ratio

I know someone who had a G10 and thsi model the X10 and on every source including Bluray said the X10 was just as good

Great deal there, unfortunately I'm after something with Freesat around the same price, so I can get rid of this old Sky box I use.

The pk350 mentioned has an ansi contrast ratio of about 2000:1. Don't know what this has, but the G10 (a much better Panasonic) is 1700:1 or so.

That's out of the box - all 2009 model panasonics like this have rising blacks, and end up 3x worse after 2000 hours or so.

Ticks all the boxes for me cept the most important, needs an external source to display in HD. Still, heat added.

All 2009 models? I'm 98% sure it's just limited to the NeoPDP models.

Sky broadcasts are 1080i, so in terms of picture resolution it would be better to have a 1080p panel (no scaling and for material like movies shot at 24fps, provided your TV can de-interlace correctly its not different to a 1080p broadcast). Infact I can't think of a HD broadcaster which transmits at 720p, only online rentals/streams use 720p and games.

Obviously resolution isn't the only issue when choosing a set.

LG makes pants plasmas.

SuPerNoVi

LG makes pants plasmas.

I'd have to disagree, the PK590 is an excellent set.

"LG Makes pants plasmas"

No M&S make pants, LG make good plasmas...

Anyone spotted this gem on the Richer Sounds website about how a quality HDMI lead will improve TV response times:

Richer Sounds HDMI

Even if the website shows 'no stock' for your local store it's worth calling them...the Birmingham store had 2 of these not cited on the website.

Freeview HD, etc aren't broadcast in 1080p,

The BBC have said they may broadcast films and dramas on Freeview HD in 1080p 25

Give this a look avforums.com/rev…php narrow it down by manufacture and compare the Panasonic Plasmas with the LG.

In comparison they don't score nowhere near as well overall. Thing with TVs is their subjective unless you've had a bunch of plasmas you're not going to know what you're missing.

I have heard the PK590 is good myself actually but not as good as Pannys .
