The world's Best TV! OFFICIAL!!

From AV Forum : 'The Panasonic VT50 will leave you gasping in awe because for movie watching it has no equal. With its mighty dynamic range, deep rewarding blacks and astonishingly accurate colour palette, there simply is nothing that competes on the market today. It won't be for everyone but for anyone interested in seeing video at its best, it's a must see!'

Samsung leave your fake LCDs that you call LEDs and weep..

The viagra of the TV world....lush TV. Seems the whole range ST/GT is dropping nicely in price before the new range. The GT50@J Lewis for 899 looks ready to be bought

I'm sooo tempted.. even though I already got a 1 year old 50".

wow i need this t.v looks epic got a panny 42" .plasma all the way

Hang on for the Sony W9, or splash now on this?!

The only thing that puts me off is screen burn as we have sky sports on for a majority of the day or even long gaming sessions.

It's not a bad deal but the new ST60 (2013 model) is supposed to be better than last years VT50 (and doesn't suffer from the banding that last years models did) and the 50" can be had for £999 with a 5yr warranty so personally I'd consider that instead. Check out the review of the 42" ST60 on hdtvtest.co.uk , they say it's pretty much as good a picture as you can get without spending daft money

Had our Panny plasma for nearly 5 years now with heavy usage including Sky, Xbox and Ps3 and never had an issue with screen burn.

I'd buy this but need other stuff first.

I bagged a panasonic 55" st50b for £800 from house of fraser last week!! Wasnt looking to spend that much but i couldnt refuse for that price! The TV is immense, that is all. I would the one in the op is breathtaking!

Good deal, but just be aware this model is now over a year old.

I have a GT50GT and very pleased with it. Just wish it was bigger. :-)

The only place I would buy a Panasonic TV from, and from where I bought mine, are the local Panasonic shops. They will price match, they provide a Panasonic 5yr warranty, and the other big big bonus, is that they give interest free credit. No contest.

richer sounds are doing it for £1199.95 with 5 year guarantee richersounds.com/sea…t50

I have a GT30 from last year, no issues what so ever with screenburn on xbox or sky. I think this concern is a legacy issue and not one for modern Plasmas. I did just in case run the screen as advised on various sites. Perfect picture.

I have a 50 inch g20 and i can assure you there is image retention but not burn in. I had a huge problem with the static logo on cbeebies in the top right hand corner. It was so bad i actually emailed the bbc asking them to take it off. Which of course they completely ignored. That took months of general viewing to clear. I also had a big problem with the osd on battlefield bad company 2. All gone now but believe me, plasmas are still delicate

The major issue with the 50 series is the uniformity .
Vertical banding and Dirty screen effect on the right hand side of the screen primarily visible on footage where the camera pans like in a football match .

Get JL to price match.

I think you can't really go wrong with either the 50 or 55 ST50. Just a waiting game now to see how low they will go & still be able to find stock. I wonder how low the cut off point will be....

Better than 55" Samsung UE55D6530? Had mine for a year now and is unbelievable quality. You should be able to get it for about the same price

edit: whoops, sorry I didn't read the plasma bit, the one I have is LED backlit. This must be a bloody good tv to warrant paying this price for a 50" plasma...

Anyone know if there will be a significant difference between the Panasonic 2012 & 2013 plasma range?

Has the tech moved on massively?

No ,not much difference .

I have the ST50 best tv I have ever owned bar none. I play consoles, watch sports and no issues. I'd love the VT. because of the Panasonic range, it's plasma all the way for me.

People still buy plasma televisions? No way lol

Sigh.

I've got a 50" V10 (2009) which was also voted one of the best TVs of the year and it also has retention problems. It's quite obvious on Netflix: if I'm not quick choosing what I want to watch, during the first 20-30 minutes of the film all the rectangular marks of the covers will be visible during dark scenes. Apart from that, it has an amazing image quality.

I'm a big fan of top end Panasonic plasma's, have some heat.

No problems with image retention on my 2011 42" V20

The GT is the more superior model...I have always been suitable informed you want either a Panasonic Plasma Passive 3D or LG LED Active 3D...having looked at both top spec models I personally prefer the way the plasma passive 3D displays images over the LED active...but still always down to personal choice! Good find! Heat added!
