I once saw a 'pancake mix' which you had to add milk and an egg to!:lol::shock:

I see where you are coming from but some people just CAN'T cook to save their lives and so packet like this seem "safe" to them and given them all the help they need to - who knows maybe it might improve their confidence in their abilities enough to branch out and try something a bit more complex in future? If so then so be it!

it's a good price for a bag of flour and milk...heat added

Asda's equivalent is 4p!

Simple to make your own and there won't be any additives

For a basic pancake recipe, you will need the following ingredients –

* 100g (4oz) plain flour
* 1 egg
* 300ml (1/2 pint) milk
* optional pinch salt

* sugar and lemon juice to serve
* oil for frying

To make the pancake batter, add the milk, egg and then the flour and blend using an electric blender or food processor. Or if a blender is not available, sift the flour and salt into a bowl. Add the egg and beat well. Then add the milk gradually and beat to make a smooth batter.

Heat a little oil in a large frying pan until hot and then pour enough batter to thinly coat the base of the pan. Cook for a couple of minutes each side.

Serve sprinkled with sugar and lemon juice.
:thumbsup:

See it's not rocket science :-D

That is sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course we like a bargain but do you know what is in this?

reminds me of american recipes where you have to add one packed of cake mix.

Pancakes are easy and think you can make with the same batter, yorkshire puddings / toad in the hole

Wheat Flour, Dried Skimmed Milk, Salt

for lazy people who can not be bothered to weigh the flour etc its great and for 8p who cares...

I keep a couple of packs of this in all the time, takes up very little space its great for emergencies like when kids want pancakes and your local store charges £2 for a bag of flour!!! (we don't drive)

I get these a lot. Cheap, quick to do and comes out nice. Good for a quick pancake supper or toad in the hole and works out better for one person living on their own than buying a big bag of plain flour does; especially if like me you don't really bake (The only pastry I ever really use is puff pastry for pie tops and that's far less time consuming to buy ready made). You get about 6-8 pancakes out of it. and at least it's not an absolute joke like the branded ones I've seen selling.

Love Pancakes and Crepes 3€ 50 for 1 at a roadside stand in France ......how do they get away with it ?

despite what some people say- i think this is a lot better than buying a big bag of flour that just takes up space on your shelves plus it's only 8p so who cares! lol. people buy a lot more rubbish for a lot more money and end up throwing things away. :-)

one cup (smaller than a mug) of flour + 1 egg + milk until it looks like pancake batter. no need to weigh, and tastes better too. i've tried these mixes as i enjoy pancakes (far to often) and the dont measure up. also i have the pan HOT and they come out better.
