2842266.jpg2842266.jpg2842266.jpg2842266.jpg2842266.jpgReviews looking good so far - there's quite a few Youtube videos about the Panda 35 x 50mm Monocular, assume it's the same one, though they don't feature the bendy tripod?

This unboxing has all the "bits", but doesn't show the monocular in use

This unboxing doesn't have the tripod but there's comparisons at 1:51 (assume it's being done through the Note 4 camera lens)

Another test (without mobile phone)

Some reviews suggest the mobile phone clip is a bit crap and may even scratch your screen, so proceed with caution!

Translated the two foreign reviews from Gearbest so far:

carlos banquez - good product
Pros: shipping on time, good packaging, good quality of material, excellent price quality ratio, complete accessories, functional, easy to use
Cons: a little heavy, the option of grip on the cell phone is not the best, I think that clamp when the cameras are a bit to the center of the phone can scratch the screen. grip with the cell phone is not good

Przemek - good lunette
Pros: good quality made, suitable for outing city. good visibility up to 500 meters
Cons: The fault is bad fixing to the phone. rather as a lens to sdjec does not fit.

I used to draw the Saint icon everywhere as a little kid, I was a bit obsessed with it/him at four years old. I suppose you couldn't really call it a crush at that age, I just knew I liked watching him, haha.

Wow, you were a creative kid! I used to love drawing it too, but I was a bit older by then, probably 10? Used to love the re-run of the Saint - Watched the latest Saint film on Netflix a few weeks back, not too impressed.
Price gone up
Love doing astronomy shots on my mobile and especially the moon when it's a good night.
Anyone have this and can let me know if it'll be fine for this purpose and the clip is ok?
Cheers

The clip's supposedly rubbish (as I mentioned above ) and I wouldn't have too high expectations about it...one review said it's good for around 500 metres away. There's lots of Youtube videos out there, most are just using it for more casual spotting.

My status has changed to "Packed" (ordered around 2am) - pretty quick given some of my more recent Gearbest experiences (weeks in one case)!

I know you didn't make the comment louise but 500m?? What an odd idea. So I could see a small bird in a tree 500m away but I couldn't see the sun 93 million miles away..........

Don't point any scope at the sun!! I think it's best to have reasonable expectations with these cheap monoculars/scopes, nobody seems to be reviewing this for stargazing so I couldn't recommend it for that.

One review on Youtube (under the second clip I linkyed to) says:
"Just bought one.... It's fix zoom and it's NOT 35X Zoom with 50mm lense. I have a 10X50 Bino and the zoom on this monocular is slightly less. I estimate it to be 8X. The lense is 40mm, I measured it. Having said that, This 8X40 monocular is actually not that bad... with the fine adjust knob, you can get a reasonable clear and sharp image. Not that bad at all considering I paid around 9 dollars for it including delivery."

Not sure how common this is, but it doesn't surprise me that they're over-exaggerating the specs of this. Perhaps this is just a clone of the Enkeeo 8 x 30mm.

It seems par for the course for the specs on these to be exaggerated. I've gone for the Enkeeo one you mentioned previously as the design looks better IMHO. It's currently £6.50 on Amazon...

Woops, I thought it was Prime. I'm pretty sure it was when I ordered (looked it up, got it in two days - same seller). That's a bummer.

They do sell it with Prime delivery but @ £16.99. I'm happy to wait a few extra days for £10 less.

it does look nicer, however no mobile clip.

Yep. The panda one has a larger objective lens, so more light, brighter image, possibly more magnification, built-in compass, and the mobile clip. You pays your money you takes your choice!
Managed to order one, not convinced it won't be rubbish but we'll see.. in about a month lol

It'll be fine [apparently] - the sun is more than 500m away and this only works up to 500m [according to the amuzing review]

Shipped around an hour ago! Quickest Gearbest order ever!
Got mine today, makes it 3 weeks and 1 day. You have to adjust the eyepiece as well as the focussing wheel above, to get a good view - but it's pretty impressive for just under £7!

Wouldn't want to risk cracking/scratching my glass protector with the phone clip, but the tripod is useful - the legs and screw are metal, though the feet and connecting piece are plastic.

Seems to be various clones of this all over Aliexpress/Amazon/ebay, some even state 40x60 magnification which is a bit cheeky!! amazon.co.uk/gp/…4SL

As other reviewers mention, I'd guess this is 8x or 10x magnification. Bought another clone of the Panda for my brother-in-law (we often joke how nosey and how much of a curtain twitcher he is, so it's perfect for him)
32802742-c8ceY.jpgEdit: Actually, tinkering around with mine, I've noticed there's nowhere for me to screw the tripod stand in (?!). On the underside there's only a hook for the carry strap.

Sent a ticket to Gearbest, hopes aren't high that I'll get a reply that makes sense...we'll see..
32802742-z49l4.jpgTested side-by-side with Steiner 10 x 26mm Safari Binoculars - I'd say they're similar magnification - the Steiner is *slightly* larger.

Another Edit: The little "hook" actually unscrews to allow you to fit the tripod. D'oh.
