I know you can get this cheaper around £730ish from dixons online plus £19.99 delivery is prob the cheapest I seen but with delivery and a warranty added on it pushes it up. No quidco sadly with JL though tightarses!

I bought this last week and none in stock for £799, they called me yesterday and said the price had dropped and that would be refunded and my TV would be here at the weekend. Still showing as 799 online though, so JL price match?

Product Information
The awesome Panasonic TH42PZ80B features Vieras V-Real technology for outstanding picture quality. The Advanced 3D colour management system ensures that colour, brightness and luminosity are independently detected to produce the optimal quality in each, resulting in a picture that is bright and beautiful.

Thanks to 100Hz Double Speed motion technology images are smooth and flicker free. Youll also enjoy atmospheric sound from the integral V-Audio sound system and a wide selection of channels thanks to its integrated digital tuner. An SD memory card slot lets you run a photo slideshow for family and friends on the big screen.

This television is high definition ready which means it has the ability to display high definition signals with the addition of a separate HD receiver. HD broadcasts are at a much higher resolution than regular analogue or digital broadcasts and have greatly enhanced picture quality. The level of detail is astonishing with clearer, sharper and more vibrant images.

1080p
1080p is the purest form of high definition that a television can display. This leads to a smoother, more film-like image, which will satisfy sports and movie lovers alike. With a 1080p signal, the information that makes up an image is displayed progressively or all at once, rather than in an interlaced fashion.

Thats what I mean. They called me yesterday to arrange delivery and informed me £20 off which they refunded. She said it was a price drop on the system. must be the internal one or something. I wasnt complaining!

Wanted this set for ages and £799 was really pushing the boundaries of the budget. the extra £20 softened the blow somewhat.

Would John Lewis not pricematch this with the Dixons price?

hotukdeals.com/ite…ea/

Nope bricks & mortar store only

dixons as I recently discovered are now online only.

In scotland it needs to be a shop within a certain distance so they can send someone to check the price on the shelf? These people dont have enough to do!

what about Richer Sounds boys and girls?
They do pz80 for 729.95-and only instore! And I'm pretty sure, JL would pricematch it...

I'do go for it, but promised myself-it has to get under 700!!! bummer...

There's not one on display in glasgow. :x

I've worn holes in my shoes trying to get a decent pricematch!

I got it for £ 749.99 from John Lewis in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago as they price matched with Richer Sounds. I bought it directly from the store (well over the phone anyway) rather than on line as I didn't want to wait in for delivery. They were very helpful.

I meant to add that it is a good telly although only having two scart sockets meant that I had to rethink how I connect everything up.

what would you connect via 3rd scart? one-sky/virgin, 2nd-freeview/vcr/etc, but 3rd one? Sorry for asking, but just cant imagine...

Its kind of complicated but I have got Satellite, cable, games console, DVD and an amp. I used to use the 3rd scart for connecting the telly to the amp so as well as getting a direct feed from the cable box and DVD player it used to send the signal from the telly to the amp to cover everything else. It wasn't a problem it just meant I needed some different connecting leads.

ii am looking to but a new telly and based on internet reviews i would buy either the samsung a656 and the sony w4000 both now selling for under £800. why would you buy this one ?

Is it still at that price? I can still price match.

sold out in both stores!!!! Damn!!!!

According to their web site it has now dropped to £ 729.95 so even better. May be worth checking if they have it in stock. first though. Their phone number is 0131 226 3544. JL didn't make any problems matching their price as they are a bricks and mortar shop, although it took them a few hours to chaeck and confirm. Good luck.

See you have answered your own question while i was typing away, sorry.

From all reviews for a 1080p 42" this is head and shoulders above similar priced sets. Technology will keep advancing but at the mo this is one of the best sets in this price range.
