Paragon Backup & Recovery 16 is a very comprehensive backup tool with a vast array of professional backup and disk management features.

The program can back up a hard drive's master boot record, its first track, individual partitions or complete drives, for instance. It can also run file-based backups on the files and folders you specify. You can run a quick backup of your documents, music, videos, music or other media files. And there's even an E-mail backup, that will save your messages, accounts and address book (Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Mail are supported).

grabbed this the other day and it's not as good as previous versions. it was fairly simple to make a seperate, bootable recovery CD in version 14 but this seems to have done away with that idea in favour of making it USB only

Just installed this v16 and backed up my C drive but for some reason the backup is 160GB compared to the source drive which is using 120GB out of 240GB ?
Presume its trying a raw backup.
Anyway I looked at the Recovery Media Builder and it gives you the option of USB or ISO so you can burn your own cd

I downloaded both the 32bit and 64 bit versions , just in case

ahh, never saw the ISO option .. cheers .. might have to re-install it and sort one out then

Looks cool. :-)

Unbelievably slow backing up to NAS and dumbed down too much. Deleted before even checking if they fixed the problems in 14 that made me drop it (not recognising drives, flaky network access etc.)

AOMEI standard or Macrium Reflect free (if you don't need differential backups) are better.

It's asking for a code when I start the software.

When I click the activation link, it says the link cant be found.

Sussed it. For some reason, it was FireFox. I pasted the link into Chrome, and it worked a treat.

Code should have been emailed to you, when you created the account. May not work if you already have one, so just create another. TIP: if you have a gmail.com account, just use googlemail.com suffix to create the account, and it will come to your gmail.com account.

This might be good, but it doesn't install on Windows Home Server 2011 unfortunately.

Can anyone suggest an incremental copy tool that also does versioning of updated files in a folder, to a destination such as NAS? Am currently using sync toy.

Also you can put dots wherever you want before the @ gmail treats them all the same.

Thanks I shall give that a try.

can you back up to azure?

I installed this on a linx 10 tablet, I'm pretty certain it caused a reflash of my bios, tablet rebooted and now is completely dead.
It will need bios chip reprogramming which is a fairly complex job, will need to open the tablet, not happy.

reflash of the bios? wau

I installed the software, tried to create recovery DVD via otg cable and external DVD writer, software did not pick up the DVD drive.
Closed software, about an hour later it prompted to do a reboot to update, on shutdown it seemed to update/flash bios.
Tablet completely dead, looks like it can only be recovered by reflashing bios which entails opening tablet and flashing using a raspberry pi or another sort of programmer.
I can't prove cause as I can't access the tablet to view logs.

so if i understand that properly, software didnt do anything because it was not able to find external dvd (next time u can try make an iso), and for me once u closed the paragon backup it makes another action hour later, but for me it sounds like bad/unfinished upgrade for some reason. Sry, dont know what could happend to tablet, havent got linx at home, but would recommend do not open it, and try to find a proper quide how to flash, rpi is not a special programmer, it just small factor pc mostly running linux.

DereC,
Windows updates don't normally touch firmware, it may or may not be linked to the software I installed, i'll probably never know.
I do know what I'm doing, I could flash the bios using a pi (which I already own), but would need some other bits, but likely will teardown the linx and sell the parts on ebay (except the motherboard).
I was actually thinking of getting a new tablet, just means ill do it sooner rather than later.

i have read that quide last night, it looks like its to much hassle around, got some rpi2 at home as a media network players, they need something to connect chip to them, good luck with flashing/selling mate

I found that it was a win 10 update which bricked my tablet, it was not this software. It seems a few linx owners now have bricked tablets all down to Microsoft.
