Hard to explain but the rides are better -especially the water based ones, slightly less crowded, and soooo much fun....highly recommended for older kids /.teens, but of course if you want the Disney razzmatazz or have younger children Disney is a good bet also.
Just for info there is a wonderful campsite within striking distance of both parks called La Croix du Vieux Pont which we have stayed at twice and took bus trip trips to both theme parks as well as day trip to Paris during our stay. Campsite is stunning!
Is the beer there warm enough? or do you need to bring a microwave with you?
Absolutely adored these books as a kid...first reason I ever entered a library on a wet Saturday with my big bro was to see if they had any. This and Tintin

Most tourist don't know about this park its not as famous so mostly French people are there so less queues
Is it easy to get to via train?
This theme park is excellent and Tonnerre De Zeus is the best wooden rollercoaster that I have ever been on. Better thrill seeking rides than Disney and have had a lovely time there on the two occasions that I have been.

I don’t think you will be disappointed visiting this park. It is lesser known than Disney and does seem to attract mostly French visitors but you really can’t compare this to Disney as they both offer completely different experiences

Thanks that’s really helpful
France tho....
What if you have a daughter, how does she prove his age?
It's some years since we went, but this is a great park. I liked it much more than Disneyland - less corporate impersonal and much funnier. If you like Asterix, you'll recognise a lot of jokes. Part of it's laid out like the Gauls' village in the books, e.g. a big wood carving of a boar, with sawdust and tools lying about, instead of the garish plastic things at Disney. There's Obelix's bedroom, with huge boots you can stand in, washing hanging up on the castle bit included a chain mail babygro pegged out! Loads of visual gags. Characters quite cheerfully wander about and put on shows. We were able to go on swing boats and water rides (spot the Roman soldier casualties sprawled about all over the place) without queuing, but it might be different in August. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the dolphinarium, with babies, but it may not still be there.

They'd probably lend you a cauldron,.

As its off the a1 motorway in the middle of a woods car access is best I think there is a bus connection to the nearest stations and the nearby charles de Gaulle Airport a lot better in some ways to the overcrowded disneyland which has become run down since it opened

Totally agree with this. Been lucky enough to go to both Parc Asterix and Disneyland Paris a few times. Parc Asterix is much better.
Many many great childhood memories of this place and I’m now 32. I’m so glad it’s not lost it’s appeal

Your bin lids will adore this place
The shows are good as well. Albeit in French so no idea what was being said but very funny what happens in them.
Just to add really - I went as a kid because my parents were too 'money saving' for Disney. We had a great time and I would happily now take my kids. Is 'Le Grand Splatch' still there? Best log flume ever...
Went there a couple of years ago and was great fun. Tickets all compliments of Tesco Clubcard vouchers. In fact, Tesco clubcard also sorted out the car channel crossing using eurotunnel

Big downside is they still have captive dolphins. That’s a no for me so won’t visit.
We've been twice. Love it. Lots of character and not rammed with Brits.
So what hotels do people stay in that are nearby?
Been Disney three times but it's getting more expensive every year
It's awesome there! We loved it!

France tho....

I agree. It smells of sweat and arrogance.
I have a much better deal than this. Go on steam buy roller coaster tycoon for 28p and create your own theme park without the fuel, stress and inflated prices. #winningatparenting

It's probably a small translation error. I think in French you use the word for he when you want to refer to both genders, whereas we would use they/their.

Definitely!
It's not exactly fair to compare this to Disney as it's more of a traditional park with more of a focus on white knuckle rides than the heavily themed Disney parks. It's more comparable to Alton Towers.

It's very easy to drive to, even if you've never driven in France before. You drive off the ferry straight onto a motorway that you stay on until you get to the park.
Anyone got cheap deals for travel / hotel please...just so can make few dats out of it please 😁

French people going to a French theme park, based in France and based on a famous French series of of books?

Who'd thought it...
Edited by: "littlebitsofgaming" 27th Mar
Asterisk et Les gilletes jeunes
Not a huge fan of theme parks but this and Europa-park are actually great.
If only French people weren’t there. They ruin Euro Disney and also PortAventura when they visit.
