I used to use cheap pens and always lost them. Having a nice pen makes you get it back off people who borrow it. This is 9.99 in Argos.

Agree about nice pens and getting then back. Although on my case I used to bite my bic pens when stressed/thinking and crack them, metal pens hurt so it stopped me doing it.

Annoying that the writing at the top is in black yet this pen is blue. Most forms need black pen these days and I fancied a nice pen for everyday use. Is there any decent black ink parkers cheap out there?

Change the ink?

Does that not nearly double the price though?
Assuming Parker havent changed how they make these (and they hadnt over the 20 years between my 1st and 2nd purchase), these are tough old pens.

In 1991, I dropped one 100ft down a lift shaft, and other than needing a replacement refill (landed on the ball and smashed it), the only damage was one of the little plastic clips that make the ball point go in and out.

Parker repaired it for free!!!

Deal-wise, they were RRP £9.99 back then, so this is a hot deal.

I havent had a form where black ink was insisted on in years, and over the past 7 years I have had to fill out REAMS* of government forms. The document scanners used these days are far superior to those of 20+ years ago, so the need for black ink is not needed. Even on the forms that say to use black ink, it is usually because the form hasnt been redesigned in 40 years, or they dont want you using something stupid, like pink or lilac ink.

*One set of documents for Borders & immigration was nearly 400 A4 pages on its own, of which over 100 pages were hand written forms.

Rinse and repeat at every stage of the immigration process, as each set of forms is nearly identical.

Sell the story to Parker. They would make it an advert

They should already know it; when I asked if the pen could be repiared, I was honest in how it got damaged, and was expecting to have to pay.
What’s a pen?

The company I work for insist on black in for all paperwork. I've also filled in a few forms this year that insisted in black ink. I guess I'm just unlucky?

Then I'll buy it! If only I had a black pen to sign the contract to purchase it. . Merry Christmas. Hope it's a good one.
