parkside?.........

westside!!!!!!!!
Me julie would luv dis - hot !!
Tempting, despite having a couple of 18v cordless (Ni Cd = heavy) and a couple of corded drills.
only one battery!
Good make from Lidl. Have one of their earlier drills and has never let me down.
is this better or worse than the Aldi one from 18nov for 40quid?
Having had one drill already from Lidl... i'll give this one a miss
A very cheap make of drill and with only one battery. used this at work and very poor. not enough power and charge does not last long. always best to have second battery for alternative charging. Great for basic diy but not great for daily use i,m afraid. great warranty on this product though you will probably need it.
The Drill itself isn't too bad - the problem lies with the battery/charger. The battery does not last very long (neither lifespan or charge cycle), and the charger fails after about a year. And you will struggle to get a replacement battery and charger and if you do, its often more expensive than the drill.
I have 4 Lidl drills. 3 of the small 12v ones I use to lay hardwood flooring.. they have all had serious punishment and paid for themselves many times over.. will be getting one of these if the battery is as poor as people claim I'd be surprised....even if it is I will just change out the cells with 3ah Panasonic ones when they go..
Are the negative comments about the battery related to the older ni cad version rather than this li ion version ?

. This one is quite a bit better well worth the extra 10 quid.

Having used both Aldi and Lidl power tools I rate the Lidl ones as better quality every time

I was wondering that as well, I can't see when they have done li ion rechargables b4.
I got this today but as it will be a pressie cant open and test, but the video they have online does show it in a reasonable light, as its Li-ion it really should not have the same battery issues that have been mentioned above, I have used a NiCad "drill" and that was a bit wimpy, heavy and slow to charge.

This is not got a massive torque, so use the slow speed 1 as that has more grunt, its probably more driver than drill but for wood or light metal if you go slow this should do the job well.

Considering you can spend £200 on a similar item you know its not going to be a tradesmans tool, but it looks perfect for diy and it seems better built than some stuff on offer at B&Q

I brought it as a screw driver which even the small 3 to 7v options are around this price, it should do mild drilling so HOT from me.
Does anyone used this cordless drill. Want to buy this.
I got one, used it a few times so far, seems v good. B and Q have a few drills on sale so may be worth checking but nothing with Lion battery for 50quid.
I've got one of these drills but sadly the motor seems to have broken.... (I brought mine in Nov 2011)

Call the support number, give details, I email them proof of purchase, they send me a new drill!!

Can't be bad and means I have two batteries/chargers.
Finally got the new drill.... battery, case, charger.... I'm happy.
Does this have 2 fixed speeds? Or are they variable speeds from 0 up to 400 or 1400?
Thanks

2 speed button is for - screwdriver/drill mode
speed is variable in both modes

I bought one of these last time, its been well used and the battery is fine. I've had a few Parkside tools just for home diy use and all have been great.
It has a Li-on battery

As someone commented, the battery charger (PABS 18-Li B2-2) was first to go! Can't find any replacement unless someone with a duff drill or battery has one to sell?
Have you tried contracting DES Unlimited
Still under warranty, they will send another
Unfortunately I have to leave a very negative comment for the Parkside 18v cordless drill due to have a very weak powered battery managed to use it for a short time ONCE ONLY. The rest of the times as soon as I fully charge the battery it dies straight away. Coincidently I had also purchased a Parkside cordless cross cut tool. I tried to use the battery of the cross cut into the drill since they are identical however this (NEW) battery was worse than the previous drill because it did not take a charge so thus with it or without it had not effect on either of the tools. Cordless tools from Parkside (Lidl) are subject to a great RISK of your money. Electrically powered tools are ok though.
Bought mine nearly 3 years ago, thanks to this deal. Still works perfectly.
