I've never heard of anyone lighting a BBQ with a heat gun. I might have just learned something.

Anyone seen a battery powered on cheap?

Assuming this isn’t a joke, then you are unlikely to find a battery powered one due to the power consumption i.e. the battery needed would be extremely large and expensive. If you really need portability, get a gas powered blower

Hopefully to at least 350C else the Desc is inaccurate 🔥
I use a heat gun for roasting coffee beans so may pick one up as I've had my current one for a while
Maybe its what is used to open mobile phones up?
Does this come with a case?
Isnt this also known as a hair dryer?
Do I need a gun license to own one of these?

I'll look out for you visiting A&E
Any good for removing vinyls off paintwork?
Need to take Mrs phone apart to replace the screen as she dropped it today. YouTube videos show it's done, guy uses a Heat gun to loosen adhesive so wanted one but says temperature 100 Celsius on the video. This one minimum temperature 350, such a shame.

Might give the hairdryer a go instead..
Do I need this?

That's the temperature at source, if you hold the blower at some distance it will drop rapidly. Further, you'd be moving the gun back and forth over the adhesive so that would avoid hot spots - with some care you should be able to use this gun to loosen the adhesive without damaging internal components.

Apparently these can be used to sear a steak after Sous vide.
Pat the seak totally dry with Kitchen paper and you'd need the flat noozle.

Thanks for the reply and advice. I've never used a heat gun before or replaced a smashed screen on a mobile phone before so there's a fair chance I'll be frying the crap out of the phone.

How do you turn the beans during the roasting? How long does the roasting take?

Don't use a heat gun for a mobile phone unless you really know what you're doing. Use a hairdryer and even then very cautiously.

Have the beans in a stainless steel dog bowl (£2.70 from wilkos), keep them moving with a stainless steel whisk. Do 250g to 333g in a batch, usually takes around 12-14 minutes depending on quantity and how darkly roasted I want them (also the ambient temp and heat gun setting will affect how long it takes)

Really interesting. I'm guessing you do it outside with the heat gun fixed in position.

It's difficult to home roast beans to a good standard. The closest I came was using an old 1980s higher than usual wattage popcorn machine that eventually died

Using a heat gun sounds like it might be worth a go.

Yes, I now roast outside, did do it in the garage but the chaff gets everywhere.

I have the dog bowl sat in a small cast iron skillet which stops it moving around, have the heat gun in one hand the whisk in the other. I'm happy with the results, find it really easy to get an even roast and generally do a third of a 1kg bag at a time so much more than I could do in a popcorn maker (which is the main reason why I've never tried one)

The base of the dog bowl is slightly bigger than the base of the skillet so the bowl won't sit flat which works our really well as the slight slope causes the beans to constantly fall to the front of the bowl where I have the heat gun directed, don't think it would work as well if the dog bowl was flat
