Haha I was the same but then I fixed my daughters TV and my Surround Sound Amp so that justified it in my mind!
Unfortunately didn't see this at my local Lidl
Has anyone figured out what tips can be used with this?
Difficult to fault it at this price though - have some heat!
Should be good for the one job you're going to use it for.
Iv'e got a couple of these, one for work and one for home. Being able to adjust the temperature is really handy on some sensitive stuff. Amazing for the price, plenty of stuff in the kit including different size tips and solder

Would this work with lead-free solder? For 15mm copper pipes
Good price for a starter set. Bought one a few years back and its ok. Saw another one in aldi which i bought for £20 which is better for fine work and more controlable but thats a bit more cash than this one and probably more than general use would require. Good find op.

I couldn't agree more ahaha. If you were even considering using this for copper pipe you should not be doing your own plumbing. Even if you somehow got it to seal it would probably be a cold solder joint and wouldn't last...
For anyone who wants a relatively inexpensive iron with interchangeable tips: You can get a T12-compatible iron from Aliexpress/Banggood for 20 to 30 quid. The knockoff T12 tips are dirt cheap, too.

Why is it quite poignant?
I used to use one of these at work. If you did something wrong you could be at it for weeks. They're was an extractor fan which didn't work so you'd get pretty high using it on various metals.

Lol I know what poignant means. I wasn't asking for a definition. I asked why.

Thought so.

Not for simple pipework.

The fact you were asking if you could use a soldering iron for the job screams warning signs.
Frankly I burst out laughing at the suggestion.

You're not even sure on the tools to use.
You should call a plumber.

Not necessarily. Normally I'd use a MAP blowtorch or pushfits.

It was simply a mere thought as I've only seen this product for electronics.

Get off your high horse. 🏼
