Thought this was a great price when posted at £199 a few weeks ago, now down even further to just £149.99 with Free C+C. Seems to be stock around, checked approx 10 postcodes UK wide & all had stock in or nearby.

Got this at £199 a couple of weeks ago, was a bargain then , this is just even better! Absolutely love mine. Comes with a total of 4 batteries (2 for drone, 2 for controller) - but in my experience, drone uses up far more, so in practice it's 3 for drone and 1 for controller on any given session

You'd possibly want to factor in :-
£20 for the Flight Plan add-in for the software - not a requirement, but opens up a huge range of opportunities for automated flights;
£35 for a high capacity batter (20 mins rather than 10)

I also spent £62 on a custom bag from Amazon, but any old rucksack will probably do

From my experience, I had none of the software / pairing issues covered in the review - so I reckon the software has been sorted in the intervening 3 years. Remote and drone are already paired out the box, and adding an ipad / phone to the process is one-time thing. Likewise, never had to clear any restrictions about flying in new locations - first flight, took it straight up to 50m in a local park without having to do anything apart from a simple calibration.

Slow turning that he mentions - it has 2 modes, sport and video, and video mode can restrict movement to provide smoother video, but you can change the settings for video as much as you like, or change to sport

Return to home is there, a physical button on the SkyController that's never let me down ; and the flight planning stuff with waypoints is there, but as part of the £20 add-on for the software

To be honest, it's the only drone I've had that cost over £35 so can't comment on how it compares to the used Phantoms etc - but I could (just about) justify spending £200 on it as a frivolous toy, and on that basis it's awesome. Just a shame there's so many restrictions - the number of lightbulb moments I've had where I think of a spectacular use for it, only to realise that's against the law...

It's worth checking out YouTube for videos that folks have created themselves to see what it can do. Personal favourites are the one where the guy sends it on a 14Km automated round trip, and a 2Km one where the guy trails it in his car

Yep - the drone and controller come in separate boxes in a single package (as you can but them separately). Each box comes with 2 batteries, and they are the same type, so I got 4, and assume that's the case for all. Only1 charger though, which is a pain as they take up to 90 mins to charge - so I bought a third-party one from amazon (about £22) that does 3 at a time. It's a bit hit and miss - first one got returned, second one can be temperamental - but eventually works, so I can do 4 at once.

Good price but poor model- better to get the newer bebops if you can stretch budget wise or I would r commend a hubsan 501s for similar price- I have been using this as entry level drone for a few months attached a pic I took on holiday recently- very good quality and easy to use. I would recommend also signing up to bmfa.org as this will then cover you for public liability insurance and you will also be part of a reputable group.

Agree about the insurance - not a legal requirement unless you're doing it commercially, but useful peace of mind - and also useful if someone complains about you flying in an area that you're legally allowed to - shows you're not completely irresponsible!

I used fpvuk.org/ - £19.99 membership and that includes public liability insurance. I did look into insurance for the drone itself, but the figures I was quoted, I could buy another 3 or 4 drones...
As a quick example of what it can do - here's a video of one of my first test flights, up to 75m and then a quick panorama. Overlays with GPS data etc are done with software later rather than added by the drone

What do people think? Could it drop even further?

Considered it at 199. Glad I waited.

Do I bite now or wait further?
Does it have a follow you mode?

I was looking on the Argos eBay site and they are the same price stock was low. Just checked and they hsve sold out today...

If you really want it might be worth just paying the 150 at the stock might be hard to come by in the next few days

Sadly no - that's only available on the later Parrot Bebop models (v2 and above)
For this price there’s nothing that will beat it....period! I know a lot of people buy hubsan h501s or ss but you better pray you get a good one.

The software situation was so ridiculous on my last 2 that I ended up selling one and giving the other away to a complete stranger on Facebook.

I then got my bebop 2 & power and never looked back, awesome quads and half decent video. I now use dji but I’ve got this bebop 1 on c&c debating if I need it.

The price is to tempting and my RYZE tello set me back more than this lol
Ps, if anyone was thinking about getting a quad then this is the one! Don’t waste any extra just to find out you don’t really like the hobby or you smash it to bits.

This is a great quad for a great price and if you want a more portable controller you have many options.
Ok - gone for it.
So far 2 batteries (the 2 in the drone box) are doing the red flashing thing.
The third I tried (in the controller box) seems OK - currently charging.

I tested them all with a meter.
The 2 in the controller box measured at 11v so I'm sure they'll be OK.
One of the drone ones was at 8v so hopefully that'll be recoverable (I'll try the swapping trick).

But the other measured less than a volt so I suspect that's dead.

What are the options with argos? Will they replace that battery?
Or will my only option be to return the whole thing?
How do you select a colour for click and collect or is it just what they have in stock?

I got one of these when they were £199. Had to return it due to 3 flashing batteries. Tried all the swap tricks etc but couldn't get them charging. 2nd one I got, 3 batteries were ok, 1 was flashing. Argos told me to call Bebop. Phoned Bebop and they said they would email me that day before 5pm with some instructions to try. Still waiting for the email 2 days and 2 phone calls later.

Returned it today for a refund.

Have reserved one for collection today after 4pm. I'll put money on it I get one of the 2 I returned (which I dont want) or another one with duff batteriers. Worth a try at this price though, hoping I get a fully working unit 3rd time round.

You will be lucky to pick one of these up at £149 second hand.

Buy it use it take care of it for 12 months, sell it on. They will still be worth £100~£150 second hand in a years time.
So far looks like I've got 3 out of 4 working - that is they're charging (after the swap trick) - yet to actually try them in the drone.

Actually I got 2 chargers - one in each box.

I didn't find the one in the skycontroller box at first - it was under the cardboard packaging so easy to miss.
Anyone who buys this - make sure to check under the cardboard.

It sort of assumes you have at least one that will charge. You put it in the charger until the correct light comes on ; then quickly disconnect that battery and connect one of the others, and assuming all is well, the light stays good. I had this with one of mine initially, and swapping sorted it immediately, and no re-occurance
Also you can try putting one in until it starts flashing, taking it off, waiting until the light stops, then putting it back.
Repeat that a few times and if you're lucky it will start staying on.

I think ut puts a tiny bit of charge in each time and that charges it just enough not to show as dead.

If you have a volt-meter you can test them and try it on the one that has the highest charge.
Then once that one is OK you can use the above swap trick on the others.

But, even after doing that I found one of my batteries appeared to charge OK but was completely dead when I came to use it.
I'm still testing all mine - but I think a couple work OK (not sure of flight time yet), the others not yet working properly.

The best thing would be if bebop would just send us a couple of fresh batteries given the situation - but I'm not holding my breath.
Just done a bit of flying in the house - certainly impressively stable.

One thing I've noticed is how hot the body gets. It's not the motors or the battery that are hot - so I guess its the processor. It's actually painful to the touch. Is that right?
I wonder if the flakey performance some people have experience is due to the CPU overheating?

EDIT: Nope, still dead. Looks like a return then

I think 3 of my batteries are working (at least to some extent - not sure how they compare to new ones in terms of capacity).
One doesn't seem to charge at all.

I contact Parrot and this is what they said:

>>> " Following our phone conversation, please try the below steps with the batteries:

a) Plug in one of the workingbatteries
b) Wait for the LED to turn a solid Red
c) Once solid, please swap out the battery for one of the batteries in question
d)Observe the LED state

If the LED state does not change, please try the steps below:
1) Plug the charger and battery for 20 seconds.
2) unplug for 30 seconds
3) Re-plug for 30 seconds.
4) Repeat this 10 times, and on the 11th time, please leave to charge.

If behaviour persist, get back to Argos for a solution / exchange under warranty.

However, the Bebop drone battery is out of stock for the moment and cannot confirm whether it will be available again, see link below:

parrot.com/uk/…ef=

Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us. " >>>

So to be fair they were pretty helpful but since they don't have any more batteries there's not a lot they can do.

So you've been able to connect your phone to the controller?

I had to use the interface on my phone to link it to the drone.
There's a connect tab which opens up a list of wifi hotspots. Just choose the bebop drone one.
Once I'd done that once it seemed to connect automatically.
Thanks to whoever posted this, ordered and picked up yesterday. Really pleased with this for only £150, it's no DJI but still great fun with the kids and replaces my ageing Ar drone.
Thanks.
No. I connected my phone to the drone. The controller is not connecting. I think you have to connect it thought the phone. I thought it doesn't require a mobile device.
For people having issues charging batteries, it helps if you turn the plug switch off and back on when swapping to charge a new battery. Great drone at a fantastic price!
Thanks OP, used my 10% code from the recent glitch so paid £134.99
