Patagonia Alplight Down Jacket

The AlpLight Down Jacket uses NetPlus postconsumer recycled nylon fabric made from recycled fishing nets to help reduce ocean plastic pollution, and was designed for cool-weather missions when you need a featherlight insulating layer that packs down small and still keeps you warm.

This jacket is crafted from ultralightweight, packable NetPlus 100% postconsumer recycled nylon ripstop fabric (made from recycled fishing nets to help reduce ocean plastic pollution) with a PFC-free DWR finish to provide durable, eco-conscious weather protection.

The jacket is filled with 800-fill-power Advanced Global Traceable Down (goose down certified by NSF International to help ensure the birds that supply it are not force-fed or live-plucked) for cosy warmth, and the varied quilting pattern stabiles them down to avoid migration.

The overstuffed collar retains warmth and the narrow channels provide shape and reduce bulk for enhanced mobility at the elbows and shoulders. The quilting helps maintain loft for comfort and reduces drafts so you stay warm.

The elasticated cuffs and drawcord waist help seal in warmth further, and the two handwarmer pockets with hidden zippers provide a place to rest and warm hands or store items securely.

For maximum convenience, the jacket self-stuffs into right pocket, which has a carabiner clip-in loop. The center-front zipper has a wicking interior storm flap and zipper garage at the chin for next-to-skin comfort.

Material

  • Shell and Lining: 100% postconsumer recycled Nylon
  • Fabric is Fair Trade approved

Was about to purchase until I read these reviews saying the jacket is extremely fragile: reddit.com/r/P…ew/

Great find. Wonder how does it compare to nano puff

It's synthetic which is fantastic for damp conditions as it keeps thermal properties.

    This is way warmer.

All about your needs and the layering system.

I was given the vest version of this and it is very warm and dog proof. (edited)

Some good deals but you have to pay for postage and then pay again for returns. So you really have to find a shop to try things on before deciding....

The returns are dreadful as well. Picked up a Montane jacket for my mum for Christmas in two sizes, sent the smaller one back first week in January and only got the refund last week despite using their own paid return service which told me it had been signed for on 11th January. Wouldn't use them again unless I was sure about the sizing

I've had a few Patagonia things over the years and you can not fault the quality, it's very good...however the way the prices for Patagonia clothes have gone up over the last 4-5 years is ridiculous.

How are you getting Student Discount? My App isn't showing codes for Sports Shoes.

How does this compare to the Patagonia down sweater?
    dumplingwrestler's avatar
Similar warmth, lighter but more fragile. I think down sweater is better general purpose one. I have it and its great.

    Depends.

If you're from the George/Matalan world, life's hard. If you're from the outdoor world bouncing around mid/high end looking for purpose built clothing, probably not. You won't find this cheaper right now. (edited)
