Sodium hypochlorite is a really good alternative and very economical.
I ordered this the last time it was featured on here. I ran out and a previous poster on the old thread mentioned used household bleach.Guess what? Both areas I treated killed off the algae and moss identically! Costco have or had an offer for 12 bottles of 750ml for around a £5 so next time I need to treat this area again I know what I will use.
Tried this stuff recently. Made little to no difference. Made the solution as described. Maybe I got a bad batch
Bought some of this the last time it was on offer about a month ago and applied about a week ago and a few days ago to try rid some parts of my drive of moss. So far its not worked very well, moss may well have turned a bit browner but not overly impressed although it doesn't specifically mention moss so thats probably the reason

Did you dilute the bleach? Just power washed ours and I reckon it degrades the pointing by a few years each time we do it.

Bleach also kills plants and flowers though. Tricky if you have bedding plants nearby
jasoncoi29/03/2020 14:12

Do you just spray it then wash it off ?

You dilute it in a watering can/sprayer and simply cover the area as directed. Easy peasy.
I use a 5litre pump action sprayer.
Great stuff as usual @Diamond_Studd

I used it on tarmac paving and a low brick wall. Used the correct dilution for the Patio Magic and the 750ml of bleach with 4 litres of water using a pump up spray with wand so not saturated the surface. I agree the Power waster will lift the tarmac and take the pointing or sand out between patio block paving, not good!
I use this each year and it does work, I do think you have to keep up with using it though, our patio and path has greatly improved over the years using this, heat added

Yes, me too. An annual event to get rid of the moss-like covering on the patio which can be very slippery.
I wouldn't say it's magic. But it does work. It does need a good scrub too.
I use this stuff, mix it at 4:1 in the pump sprayer.

Usually spray it on the path, patio and sleepers. Usually clears all the green in 3-4 days.

I try to stock up when it’s on offer. £6 is a good price and occasionally it comes in at less than this.
Same price in Morrisons (Arbroath). Tried to post deal a few days ago but Mods didn’t put it up as Government rules means they don’t want people going out for items unnecessarily.
Thanks ordered 2

Do you just use bleach on its own or diluted in water?
Would this work on roof tiles?
We have utility room on north facing wall covered in moss. Everytime we get heavy rain chunks of moss fall off.
Was going to pressure wash it but wonder if i could use this solution instead.
We use this stuff and was really impressed. After all the rain we've had we had a lot of green on the patio and brick walls. One spray of this sorted it out in a couple of hours. Brilliant stuff.

I use bleach.Squrt it on the paving neat, then lightly wet it with garden Hose.
Give it a good scrub so it froths up nicely, leave for 5 min, then give it a good wash down.
Wear old clothing!
Will this also work on block paving? I normally use the pressure washer and it's a pain in the a*"e!!
Good price.
I've tried allsorts. Even just plain water through the pressure washer but algae always comes back in a year. Need to get more light on the patio or chose the colour of stones carefullly!
Four ordered, thanks for posting.
Used 12% bleach dilluted 50/50. Worked a treat and the run off didnt harm the lawn either. 16 quid for 25 ltrs.
Any good on sandtone paving?
Cheers op
Ordered, thanks. Heat added

So that clean paving as good as a power wash?

Yes works well on sandstone. Apply treatment with the weather forecast remaining clear - no rain for at least a day or so.
