I'd like to have thought that but once I sprayed it on it still needed washing down.

Cos once the mould is dead it has to be cleared off. Just jetting will do the job but will take you a lot longer as the mould is live and stuck to the patio slabs.

I guess like washing a car you wouldn't just spray soap and jet it, you'd still need to use a sponge.

I've attached before and after, my method
Spray - leave overnight - jet the next day

You may have the same results with a hose and brush, this took no more than 15mins to clean.

This does not deal with black lichen, it is not nearly strong enough.

Great stuff when applied correctly cleared up all the algae on brick paving with no power washing required prevents it coming back too. Mines been on a year and it hasn't came back also it's cost effective as it's a concentrated
I bought this last time it was on here and it certainly works. I seen it in Sainsbury’s yesterday and it was £11 so this is a good buy.
Great for brick walls, jet wash is to powerful and damages bricks easily. Applied some where a roof gutter had been leaking causing green algae. Came up a treat.

I've used this stuff. A bit industrial but only thing to do a proper job on black lichen on Indian sandstone.

I did consider, but I didn't fancy the strong bleach effect and the effect on the wildlife and plantlife, nor the ruining of clothes or having to wear a full hazmat to apply

Power washing is the worst thing you can do, generally the life of slabs have maybe 2 power washes then they are ruined, from the on they deteriorate badly, power washing removes the top layer and leaves them rough, causing a good base for moss etc...learned this from a guy who installed mine.

Yes it will kill everything. I used my fence sprayer to spray it. Wearing shorts, t-shirt and sandles. I haven’t died yet. My shorts did get a nice bleach patch.

That's saved you £6, as others say this is weak stuff. Buy bleach, dilute 50/50 with water, use watering can, keep away from grass edges, brush in. Even let it dry out then powerhose. When bleach dries out you are left with salt which is safe.
I tried all sorts of patio cleaner and 6liters of bleach around £2.70 was only thing that killed lichen (black spots)

Agreed. Cheap bleach & water is all sodium hypochlorite is anyway.
What's good to remove paint from slabs ?

I used a pressure washer today on some similar slabs without any chemicals and it brought them up like new.

Thick bleach is around 4% sodium hypochlorite, whereas sodium hypochlorite you can buy is around 15%. I do agree that bleach often will be sufficient however if you have lichen which has gone untreated for a couple of years it won’t.
Sodium hypochlorite will get rid of black lichen and everything else, no jet washing required, £25 for 20 litres

Its not. Cheap bleach contains between 2 & 5.5% sodium hypo. Where as a barrel of Sodium hypo contains 15-17% hypo. Big difference.

Jetwash then apply when dry and walk away if you want to actually inhibit any further growth. Apply before jet washing as well for the best results, but pricey if you have a large area. I recently cleared my whole bungalow roof of algae and moss with the jetwash. Then applied this to kill anything remaining and prevent it coming back. It did work straight on my concrete fence panels without jet washing but at maximum dilution I had to apply twice for mild algae.
I had some algae that wasn’t coming off a rendered wall, applied some bleach last night after reading this topic and it’s completely disappeared today. Thanks for the advice
