EXcellent Ram this, great buy for folks building.
I know zero about anything nowadays about PC stuff - not good when trying to build a pc!

Would this be good for the mobo deal posted yesterday (MSI X570-A PRO AMD AM4 Motherboard) and a 3600 chip?

Hi, yeah this would be a nice pick for the price with that cpu/mb bundle.
but on the other foot, you have gone for a high variant of MB out of all the selections available.

so to keep in line with "theme" of prem hardware, a 3600mhz ram would be even better fitment,

cclonline.com/pro…ykw

£77.25 2x8gb 3600mhz CL17..
Would you mix it with G.skill Ripjaw (same spec) :/

Thanks for that. Yes I bought the 3600 a couple of weeks ago (Currys/PCWorld on Ebay £139), a case over a week ago (Amazon £49.99 - apparently arriving today), Five additional Pirate Turbo RGB fans (Amazon £6.98 x 5 - no sign of arriving yet) and the mobo from yesterday's deal (Currys/PCWorld on Ebay £126). I got an email in the early hours of this morning telling me the mobo had been dispatched!

It was the mobo that I was stuck on. You previously recommended a B450 Tomahawk Max (as did others) and I was going to go for that, but then the X570 popped up yesterday and most people said it was better than the Tomahawk so I went with that as it was within my budget (well just above a little, but bearable).

So I'm almost there. I just need to decide on ram (16 or 32gb & 3200 or 3600?), GPU and SSD (NVMe).

Do you think 3600 ram would be worth the extra amount over 3200 and do you think 32gb would be worth going for instead of 16gb? Mainly to be used for general day to day tasks, some basic gaming (Cities Skylines, Planet Coaster and some driving games), video editing and processing/rendering and photoshop work. The faster the PC the better, obviously, but would 32gb be worth it for me and future proofing purposes?

And GPU - you've previously suggested a 590 Fatboy or a 1660 Super. Still of that opinion and if so, which would you suggest with my other components?

Cheers.

I'd hand fire on 32gb, doesnt sound like u need it yet, and always add as time needs, never an issue with ram, just go for one which is brand variant to do so laters - both ok for that.

3600mhz nice gains, prob not worth the typical NORM previous GAP. But for £10er as the other is down low. Yes indeed, and that's another reason I stated it, otherwise I wouldn't of done so. Was sole on that and what u bought to.

GPU's

think we have spoken before about the fatboy RX590, and im sure u reasked me on this, maybe it was someone else lol.

its been a long time since ive reco the Fatboy, due to the prices. i have in prebuilts due to being £10er more then the likes of an RX580.... and in builds with plenty of AIRFLOW, ( if anyone remembers my old CCL deals, number one challenge was to sort there airflow issues out, which i did for folks)..

i would go 1660 super gigabyte one or try n up as much as poss to the likes of say: Gigabyte 5600xt @ £260 at CCL atm /also avail at THEBOX.

I wouldntt touch the fatboy unless its really cheap .. a Good quality Rx580 will give you almost as much at a lower price.
Personally..? 1660 super .. 32gb of 3000 ram or 16gb of 3600 ram? ... 32gb . You probably dont even need 32gb .. even 16gb is still more than enough, 8gb runs win10 +games real good.
Spend your excess on nvme storages , the bigger the better 1tb+
Just bought the Ryzen 3600 from the other deal, is there any reason to pick this RAM over this one which is cheaper?

SSD HDD advice: 240gb / 500ish SSD more then enough ++ HDD.. keep cost down if someone is budget limit,

there is no need for a 1TB SSD, when ur budget limited and that means u have to reduce down on GPU because of an SSD or have excess becausing ur choosing to cut another field down whats not needed but first thought off.,

Everyones gone mad on SSD: because the ps5 has some kinda epic SSD im finding though the field,,..... very tiring story.. who cares of the benefits in that field when there more inportance elsewhere. .. Excess money --> GPU.

Ok, thanks for that. So here's a question then. The case I bought has the tempered glass front and while I'll have plenty of fans (9), my concern is airflow, as you mention. I've read that even with the glass front (which restricts airflow a bit), it is usually fine for allowing good airflow. But are you saying that the temps would be higher for a 590, but lower for a 1660 Super or 5600XT? I'm assuming GPUs can get quite hot so is that the case with a 590?

And do you think I can use the stock cooler on the 3600?

And there's a deal at the moment for a PSU CORSAIR TX550M Semi-Modular ATX PSU - 550 W

Do you think this would be ok for my needs?

Cheers

Thanks for your reply.

I seem to recall people suggesting the 580 was a good card, but likewise the 1660 Super too. I don't know the difference in price between them, but I do want to limit my outlay, so will need to think about it. Is the extra cost for the 1660, or 5600xt as Sarden suggested, worth the extra cost? Thanks for the ram opinion - so saving me £80 which I could either use towards a better GPU, or NVMe storage, which sounds a sensible idea!

I’m wondering the same.....
I think they're both Hynix CJR RAM, but the more expensive RAM may be higher binned (ie the memory chips were found to perform better under testing, so were put aside and they charge a premium for it).
