Is this better than the Steel (3200MHz) version?
I have the Steel on order at Amazon but won't be delivered until next year.

Currently showing at £49.50, even better.
RAM might show an uptick in price soon ... according to the Pundits . Looks like it might be a bit tall ?

Unfortunately no
Note that this is incompatible with Asrock b450 HDV mobo. I made that mistake. Great RAM. Terrible motherboard.

Steel versions dont hit rated speeds.
I bought the 3600 steel kit 16gb.

On the 3400g best I could get was 3400mhz.

On the Ryzen 2600 couldn't get past 2933.

Now before the tech heads jump on my comment.

I have hyper X predator 2933 that runs at 3733 on a 3400g on a b450m pro max both
On my 2600 with an msi x370 gaming carbon pro my hyper X also hits 3733 with a small Voltage bump.

The patriot steel series kit is not great at hitting rates speeds. Apparently it's down to not being in the qvl (qualified vendors list) so it isn't rated as working with amd CPUs. But fine with Intel cpus.

It won't run at full speed or xmp.

Reset bios and find the maximum supported frequency.. be prepared for many CMOS resets.

Also I'd steer clear of these for amd setups.

Get yourself a kit of hyperx. My predator 2933 RGB 16gb kit clocks to 3733mhz at 1.4v on x370 and my b450 setup.
Great deal, I'm using this exact RAM and paid £80 for it (back when RAM was spiking up in price).

This RAM on that mobo is simply not recognised and won't post, regardless of cleared bios or whatever. I had plenty other RAM to use in that mobo and it worked fine with that and in all fairness it wasn't on the list of compatible RAM for that mobo, but being as how this RAM and that mobo are often the cheapest it's a common issue that might occur for those trying to build the cheapest AM4 systen

Thanks.

As I'm planning to build a R5 2600 & ASRock B450 ... I cancelled my Patriot Steel.
I will try to get the Hyper X instead.
