The free internet is limited to 100MB a day. It is not unlimited.

Really interesting deal, unfortunately I've just taken out a new contract.

Hot from me though.

That is pretty interesting - good for a couple.

Interesting way of doing things! I wonder if it will catch on.

Been on offer for a few months now, with the special 'free Internet...' for anyone who tops-up progressively extended.
The KEY thing though is that this is NOT (yet anyway) a regular goodybag
"The final purchase date of this goodybag is 31st March 2011."
So could be a very short 2 months offer for anyone who fancies this particular goodybag.

Been on giffgaff for about a year now, brilliant service (o2 coverage) and with free calls & texts to most of my regular contacts have been able to reduce my outlay to around £5 per month

Interesting deal. The sort of thing I'll be looking for in a couple of months when contract runs out. heat added

100mb*30days = 3000mb/month which is 6 times more than most "unlimited" contract deals (500mb) at the moment
most people don't use anywhere near that much, i accept that some do but for the majority this is more than enough. and free.

I'll get my mum to ring me and keep the phone on overnight with her free minutes then I'll have loads if I keep hanging up and doing it :P

That could become quite fun. Get a call from British Gas trying to get you to change energy providers and you'll be trying to keep them on the phone for as long as possible. Be tempting to encourage some market researchers to give you the odd call too.

Aaah, I thought the deal was that as long as you signed up and activated before the data (now 31 March) then you would continue to receive unlimited internet? I must have misunderstood.

I used to be on the O2 genie sim where a £10 topup got you 300 free texts plus £10 credit added to your account. Is this the same or do you not get to keep the £5 as well? Its a good deal either way but its fantastic if you get the fiver to spend as you pleae

....But its not unlimited.

Limiting to 100mb per day is a bit sneaky. The first few days of a new phone would easily rack up more than 100mb for many people.

Call your giffgaff number from a payphone where you dont actually insert the money until the person answers (mainly pub phones), answer the call but dont insert any money in the payphone and let the minutes roll in!!

It's free. Totally free.
For people already on goffgaff they don't even need to have credit to use it.
Not sneaky at all, it's there on the web site.

o2 coverage hopeless - especially for 'mobile internet' - the further North you go :-(

I've been on giffgaff for about three weeks now after I swapped from Orange, Bought a £10 goodybag so i have 300 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet - and the service is no worse that Orange's was, except I get minutes and internet for the same price!! Recommended.

If you say so. I've been with o2 and now GiffGaff for many years and live in Yorkshire. Never had a problem.

Could I drop this sim card into an unlocked mifi device and access the internet with my non 3G ipad? Any advice gratefully received. heat added btw.

Now confirmed - free internet ends 1st April

Looks like a really good deal and cheap network to use, only concern is the name...Giff Gaff not really what I want displayed across my phone screen or to say to someone when they ask what network i'm with.
Also whats the chances of them being around say 2 years down the line, how would that work?

You're not meant to use if for any type of tethering or modem use. And they can tell because people have been warned.

As for saying the free internet ends at end March, they have extended every month since way back when.

Good deal, but 3G coverage is patchy. About the fastest 2G though.

Free mobile internet extended for the final time. If you’re not on a goodybag that includes unlimited data, we'll be starting to charge for data from the 1st April. To ensure you'll continue to get the best deal from giffgaff, we'll include your recent data usage and recommend the best plan for your in your next Personalised usage statement (sent 4th Mar). ...

if you stick to your average usage for that month, and say tether a driod tablet off a driod htc hero that uses NAT and the same http headers, how would they ever know? granted runing an PC via your driod phone that uses Microsoft IE headers, they would be able to tell. its this a myth or fact?

So, for members who do not have a goodybag (or are on the £5 goodybag), data will be charged; 20p per MB, charged in kB of use (until 1MB is used), after this, data is free until you use over 20MB, when you will be charged 20p per MB thereafter.

Put in another way, 20p a day for 20 MB. If you go over the 20MB, you will pay 20p per MB. If you use a small amount of data, then don’t worry, there is a ramp up to the 20p, charged in KB. The aim of this is suit members who do not buy goodybags and either use a little or a lot of data. The percentage of customers using on average above 20MB per day is 7.6%. This pricing strikes that balance for the majority of members and is competitive with the PAYG market.

i live in washington which is pretty far up north and i have full signal all the time, even in my house where virgin, t mobile, orange all have none.

How can you check both 3g and 2g coverage and see how it differs? Or where?

what a stupid, shallow comment. are you a snob and do the words giff gaff offend you and your posh mates?

what about names like face book, or linked in, or bebo, or ASDA mobile or TESCO mobile

dont be ridiculous

Ha i'd just switched to this today, before seeing this post, from o2 as giffgaff are offering a better deal,
Edited by: "gio" 24th Feb 2011

have a giffgaff account and it does alright. overall satisfied given the price =)

Giffgaff are very good indeed. There was another deal, not long ago, for their £10 bag, although this is the on I use. Happy to answer any questions on this, but they have a great forum over at giffgaff.com, and the users there get points (payback) for answer the queries. Also to not, if you are referred by a current member, you get £5 free credit (as do they). No offers or requests for referalls allowed on the public forum here though

this bundle was available for couple of months now, strange it got hot only now...
