Note: It's exclusively for Prime members at Amazon.

[Argos Link]

This seems to have been this price for the past week, so it's not a new deal but it's definitely worth a highlight I think, great for people with Amazon/Argos vouchers. The item is also discounted on the PayPal Here store where you can read more about it here.

Ah, my apologies. I was referring to the Amazon price. I was aware of the PayPal store price, hence the content of the description and the link to the PayPal store

The app works perfectly fine on my phone.
Amex seems to be fixed rate of 2.75% - could you use this with your own Amex card to meet the turnover requirement for a 'free' BA companion flight?
Has it got its own wifi network around the country? As i wish to provide my takeaway driver with one?

Think it connects to your phone's data connection, and possibly would mean you have to give your drive your paypal details, not the best.

The user downloads the PayPal Here app The reader is connected via bluetooth. I think, you can add users to your Business account with a Username and password that you approve. This does not mean they get into your main account. You create a "staff member" effectively.

Check out Paypal or get in touch with them to confim.

I will get in touch for more info, as lately in the Takeaway industry we are getting more and more 'Tryers'. 'Boss man i av no cash can i pay you next time i order'

These little cheapskates are killing us small businesses they do not realise how hard it is for some of us we have Rent, Rates, Gas, Elec, Wages and much more to pay out for, not all of us are killing it with the JSA unfortunately like them.

Is it so good that you wouldnt need a mobile card reader linked to a so called 'normal high street' bank account?

I have my PayPal account linked to my bank account anyway. But all of these reader, no matter who you use, have to be with a verified address etc. They will also do a Anti money laundering credit check to verify who you are.

There are plenty of security checks and as such, the tin foil hat brigade are wrong when they say "anyone can fleece anyone off hundreds".

Incidentally iZettle have just dropped their fees to 1..75% now.

I have one of theirs too.

Why do you have 2?
Is one a backup of the other?

Basically yes. I did use iZettle first but the funds can take up to 3 business days to reach your account, yet PayPal is same day.
I am thinking about setting up a business whereby I would be taking a refundable deposit of a couple of hundred quid on a product that I am renting out. I would like to use a customers credit card, and therefore a suitable portable card reader to take that deposit.
I would then have be able to repay that deposit if the item was returned back to me undamaged, once again using that card reader.
Is that possible using this reader, or is there a more cost effective way of doing it?

To do a refund you would have to log into the Paypal website, find the transaction in question and press the refund button. You are able to issue a partial/full refund for up to 180 days from receiving the payment. After 180 days you have to to use the normal send money function, which means that you will loose the Paypal fees that you were charged when the deposit payment was originaly received.

To the best of my knowledge the mobile apps/card reader can not issue refunds.

Found the option in the Paypal Here app, thanks artnada
