The year is 1988. Adventure game developer Delores Edmund, on hiatus from her job at MMucasFlem Games, has returned to Thimbleweed Park for a quick vacation. While she’s home, she’s making some extra money as a photographer for the Thimbleweed Nickel News. Hey, game developers need to eat, too!

Thimbleweed Park hasn’t changed at all in the year since Delores has been away… or has it?

…Since when is the S&D Diner a five-star establishment?
…When did the PillowBear™ become all the rage?
…Why is Ransome the Clown suddenly winning humanitarian awards?
…How come no one seems to remember that dead body that turned up under the bridge a year ago?
…Can Thimbleweed Park get any stranger?!.

In a town like Thimbleweed Park, a side career in photojournalism is the least of your problems...

Delores: A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure started out as a prototype for Ron Gilbert’s new point-and-click adventure game engine and grew into a fun little game. It is not a sequel to Thimbleweed Park and is probably missing all of the small bells and whistles that would make it a commercially viable game.

This was a challenging game to make because we had to use almost exclusively “found art” from Thimbleweed Park to create all new puzzles. Also because we couldn’t go outside IRL.

As a thank you to our fans, we are releasing it for free as something you can have fun with in these odd times. You don’t have to have played Thimbleweed Park to enjoy this mini-adventure. (But if you do enjoy it, why not check out Thimbleweed Park, hmm?)

Key Features:
  • Non-stop point-and-click fun!
  • Return to Thimbleweed Park, the setting of the Best Adventure of 2017 award from Adventure Gamers and the Thank You for Not Still Living at Home award from Ron Gilbert’s mom. (Or, visit Thimbleweed Park for the first time! No prior knowledge required to play!)
  • Explore Main Street and solve puzzles to take pictures for Thimbleweed Park’s hard-hitting newspaper. One of these days Natalie will get that Pulitzer, and it will be thanks to your help!
  • Tackle increasingly difficult assignments as you get closer to figuring out what the heck is going on in Thimbleweed Park this time.
  • Sample a new adventure game engine by Ron Gilbert, who created Lucasfilm’s SCUMM engine and classic games Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island back in the day.

Hope it helps someone.

You can't because it's permanently free

I dont think its permenantly free because you cannot add it to your cart to purchase at 100% discount. I think its only free at their discreation.
You can actually purchase it on epic rather than steam
Nice find, just picked it up there. Thank you.
I loved this game in parts, it just doesn't quite all come together.
The original Thimbleweed Park was actually an Epic Games Store freebie for a week quite a while ago. I did claim it back then, but since my gaming platform is Linux, it's "fiddlier" to get EGS games to work compared to Steam's one-click-to-play Proton, so I never bothered playing it. I'll try out this Delores game on Linux Steam though...
Nice! Loved Thimbleweed Park, good find.
Not just for PC, it works on Mac as well

The game developers say they've made it for free to fans as the game won't be released for sale.
Thanks op
Great share... Thanks op!
Loved Thimbleweed Park. A bit disappointing that this only runs on Win 10 64bit though.
As someone born in '81 and who's favourite game of all time is Monkey Island, Thimbleweed park pushed all the right buttons for me.
Now just to get the rights back from Disney for a true Monkey Island sequel
love myself a 50mb game download
Cheers

Agree, Thimbleweed had it's moments but didn't quite work fully as a game, definitely worth playing though.
Still £8.99 on Android surprisingly

This game isn't sold on Android. It's a small side game to Thimbleweed Park that's only available on PC.
Serious question - Has anyone else found that the 'Thimbleweed Park' game they got from Epic Games a while back when it was free has gone from their library?............................ I definitely added that to my games and now it's disappeared and is asking me to buy it...

WTF has happened with mine then, that's mad...
Really fancied giving this a go - loaded it and all I got was a blank (black) screen and music/sound effects Mouse click and got flashing green then black screen again. Had to reboot to get out of it.
Not voting either way as it looks fun but....
I've had a good few hours playing through this, and not finished yet! Thanks OP!
I've done two sets of "missions" and four more to go but not bit repetitively so save it for later
Great, will get this! Enjoyed Thimbleweed Park but as a few have said, it didn't quite gel.
Personally I think it lost a little due to the frequent changing of playable characters.
Stupid question but do you need the original game installed to play this ? My PC meets the minimum spec but when I launch the game ( from Epic Game Launcher ) it opens a 'GGEngine' window but then immediately goes back to the Epic launcher

No, you don't, it's not a DLC but a new game

Thought so. Don't understand why it doesn't work then.
This has a very monkey Island vibe to it!

Cheers, everyone else still seems to have it then, I'll dig out any emails saying when/if I got it then and get in contact, I can clearly remember it being on that free scheme so this is really confusing..
Heated for being free.

Downloaded and played some...
I get flashbacks to "Leisure suit Larry in the land of the lounge lizards"
