DOOM® VFR brings the fast-paced, brutal gameplay fans of the series love to virtual reality. Immerse yourself in the UAC facility on Mars and the depths of Hell, as your skills are put to the test through intense combat and challenging puzzle-solving. Play as a cybernetic survivor who is activated by the UAC to fight the demon invasion, maintain order, and prevent catastrophic failure at the Mars facility. Lay waste to an army of demonic foes as you explore and interact with the outlandish world of DOOM from an entirely new perspective.

Set shortly after the demonic invasion on the UAC’s Martian research facility, you are the last known human survivor–until your death. Under a top-secret UAC operational contingency protocol, your consciousness is transferred to an artificial brain matrix. Your designated purpose: restore operational stability and use any means necessary to stop the onslaught of demons.

No discount on the PS4 version

Is it the full game in VR, or just a section? Seems too cheap to be the full game, but I don't know.

It's not the full game in VR. It's a separate storyline developed for VR. You don't play the doom marine. It's probably a much shorter experience.

Will this be cheaper on Steam? (Thinking it might be worth trying out the Steam support for my new HP Mixed Reality headset)

Answering my own question - looks to be £19.99 on Steam

This has been posted before I think? I purchased it based on the previous post.

Ah, you're right it was - in September. Credit to @mixmixi for the original post.

I originally searched 'Doom VFR Steam' which is why I didn't see many results.

Its a full game but not the full game of Doom but it has been built especially for VR

I want to jump on this so badly but I am lacking a DVD drive.

CCP Games, one of the biggest developers in VR gaming have already shut down their entire VR portion of the company. I'm not sure it'll ever kick off properly if it's losing the likes of them so soon.

Rubbish. CCP are all about EVE online which makes them all their money. They've experimented in VR as they have done with other things like Dust on PS3, and since nothing will make them as much money as EVE, they don't build upon those experiments.

VR is in a great space and it will continue to get better as the market grows.

I doubt it...

"It’s fun enough, but I found it hard to imagine playing for more than a handful of minutes. Its creators have done an impressive job of thinking about how Doom’s space could translate to VR while reducing nausea, but the teleport system sacrifices one of the reboot’s staples: a sense of flow. Zipping between locations lets you traverse the environment, but you’ll generally be shooting with your feet firmly anchored to the ground. This ultimately means you feel less like a nimble soldier and more like a clunky turret, limply throwing air grenades."

Good price though - heated

It was much more than just an experiment, you don't have an entire studio with over a 100 people involved for an experiment.

Super Mario...Doom obviously! The guy asked "is this the full game in VR?" clearly he meant Doom (2016). It's not.

can't wait to see if it'll work on the rift
probably will, but I know why zenimax aren't explicitly saying it will

Why not? They still got a butt load of Facebucks for initial exclusivity.

Do you have to use the teleport system? I was fine with farpoint on psvr and how that worked (I don't get motion sickness, probably because of the way I drive), and I have a 5m x 7m space to play in.

I guess it wasn't a final product when they pre-reviewed it but I'd be surprised if they changed something like that before release...
I was a little disappointed when I found out too but I'll bet they discovered fairly early on that they couldn't just port the full game into VR without half their dev team throwing up.

It will limit the game's appeal but after playing RE7, it's probably for the best... I can only handle 10 minutes of that game in VR (15 mins if I switch on segment turning).
Movement in a game without sensory backup from the inner ear can make your brain suspect you're hallucinating and infer that you've been poisoned - hence the sick feeling.

I'll be getting these when they surface:

Ah, ok. So this is more like a standalone DLC then? I thought it was just a VR port of Doom (2016), in the same line as Skyrim and Fallout 4, so thanks for clearing it up.

Do you need the move controllers for the ps4 version?

From the hands on preview: "Playing on the HTC Vive, players move using the left controller — either by using the d-pad, or teleporting by holding the left trigger to create a marker, then releasing it to teleport — and shoot with the right controller."

£10 for a new Doom game in VR but £30 for what is essentially just a VR update for Fallout 4? What are they thinking...

That's right. And did you know that Doom 64 was a whole new game and not just Doom on the N64? Because I didn't know that until last year...
