You reckon? Not sure whether to bite now, or wait until Friday...

Started the free 10hrs trial with Origin Access. Something felt wrong, I couldn’t put my finger on it but didn’t find it fun. Uninstalled after 20mins. Rather play Forza 4 or even Burnout Paradise !
I’ve enjoyed a few of the previous NFS titles. Not this one. Maybe I should have given it more time...

The series has gone downhill since Underground 2 and Most Wanted imo. All the little details, like getting to put a picture of your car on a magazine cover for winning particular races, and the fact it featured mainly regular cars, not just supercars.

Saying that, I did enjoy the Shift games as well. I haven't liked the last few. The cars have felt far too heavy and on rails, and I never liked the drifting mechanics either.
Anybody know where I can get Xbox digital version cheaper?

I liked Shift, at least after installing a few mods to fix the handling. Shift 2 however was unplayable for me, even after installing mods the cars would still fishtail all over the road. It's a shame because I really enjoy track racing over street and feel that if they worked on it more, they could have a street and track combo similar to what Forza has going on with Horizon and Motorsport.
I'm a fan of the GRID series though, for me they have a good blend of everything.

I got on really well with Shift 2 on pc (when it isn't crashing constantly). It was a very hard game to get the hang of, but I quite liked that about it. You had to fully concentrate, and couldn't just whack full throttle down in a quick car or you'd spin, they had the balance of realistic and fun spot on. Only bit I didn't like was the perfect line bonus, which was impossible sometimes when you had overtaking to do.

Me too, what an awful game.

The driving mechanics are horrendous - it's an insult to the Need for Speed brand!

Driving is squiffy, but even worse are the characters in the game - would be far more fun as a Carmagedon type game where you could run the gobsh!tes over.

Interesting... Do you use a wheel? I use a gamepad so it's harder to make small steering inputs, most of the time it's full left or full right.

Used a Dualshock 3 for a few years, now a usb Xbox 360 controller as the DS3's basically wore out.

Once you have a play with the controller settings you can get it feeling pretty good. Car setup also makes a difference, need to get the suspension etc right.

A decent force feedback wheel and pedal set is a good investment, and basically a requirement for newer sim games.
