I recently purchased and I am currently Divintiy Original Sin 2 , using the method as detailed below , I shall also be pre-ordering Pillars of Eternity II.

*** VPN is only required for purchase not during game play *** Very easy method , takes around 5 minutes.

Stated on the pre-order page Full English Audio and Text , just like Divintiy Original sin 2 , I purchased Divinity original sin 2 a couple of days ago via Russia Using the same method as detailed below....works as normal

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire
gog.com/gam…ire

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Deluxe Edition
gog.com/gam…ion

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Obsidian Edition
gog.com/gam…ion

I only have two GoG games on my account , the 1st one is Witcher 3 which I purchased upon release using a VPN code I think it had to be set to Poland with a VPN for ordering or similar....no issues for the couple of years I have been playing the game , no account ban etc...no issues at all , no VPN using while playing the game.

*** What are GOG.com terms and conditions when it comes to using VPN for buying games using a VPN :- their only opinion as stated on their website is :- "that's not cool."

support.gog.com/hc/…ent

6.11. Please treat this system sensibly and don't exploit it (for example by using VPNs or other methods to manipulate how your location appears) – that's not cool.

**** Method I used for buying Divinity Original Sin 2 via GOG Russia *****

Used my VPN ( ivacy.com) set to Russia

*** I found Opera browser worked the best for me , fresh download , all history and cookies cleared , only logged into GOG once the VPN was set to Russian ( I did run Google Chrome in tandem in another window using Google Translate , so I had a clue what was happening on screen) *****

1 )I Used my computer, Opera browser cleared history and cookies.(did work on my phone also using opera browser, I found chrome did not work , but prefer computer for this kind of thing anyway)

Surfed to the Divinity Original Sin 2 page.

Added to my basket.

logged in using my regular GOG account.

Paid via visa card, reason for visa card I had read earlier that PayPal does not work with most VPN programs and can cause a Paypal account to become locked.

*** you can pay via PayPal, Just disconnect VPN before login into your PayPal account ( Thank you Ovisan)

Started to download via the GOG client program.

Installed and happily played for 4 hours , all working perfectly.

Heat for a good deal, but unfortunately not Steam. Doesn't feel like I 'own' a game these days when I have licenses lying around all over the place.

The price difference for me is definitely worth it, but isn't there a option to transfer afterwards to steam, I think I had seen some kind of offer somewhere

I have not tried to buy for a friend, but no code was given when pre ordering, GOG added the game to my account.

No , as they are the full price in Russia , they can only come down , say 3 months after release.

Thanks, and will the games receive updates without a VPN connected?

Totally yes, I bought witcher 3 via the same method over 2 years ago , and divinity sin 2 around 10 days ago , I've had all the updates, no worries at all
My PIA VPN doesn't have a Russia server.
I understand many other major VPN providers have also removed their Russia servers.

Is there another country you can think of that will allow cheap GoG prices?

Consider a free trial with Nord VPN

free.nordvpn.com/

I use Ivacy , works well with Russia , but a free 3 day trial , should do the trick with Nord VPN

Will wait for Kingdom Come to come out via GoG in 2 weeks, and then trial NordVPN as you've suggested.

But you can pre-order kingdom come same with pillars 2 , that is what I did , plus all you need is a email address for the 3 day trial , so it is easy to use multiply times.
How much is Kingdom Come, via Russia VPN?
OK so after buying a copy of this for myself, when I tried to buy again as a gift for someone else, the price has more or less tripled.
Something about the region-free price in your location or something.

Other games (that I don't own) remain normal price.
Is this a problem for anyone else - i.e. price going up a lot when trying to buy a game as a gift that you already own?

EDIT: confirmed this happened for other games that I've already bought from GoG previously - showing as a cheap price, and then when adding to basket, the price jumps up. Doesn't happen when I add games I don't already own.
Must be a GoG thing.

Wanted to buy an additional copy of this and Kingdom Come for a friend

I have never gifted on GOG , but I suspect that perhaps if a friend has their location set to UK , then perhaps the price jumps up due to the person whom is been gifted the product is located in the UK or similar as opposed to Russia.
