Seems to be a very well specced laptop for the money. PC Specialist are a well known and respected brand resold by PC World.

The CPU is very good and whilst the graphics card isn't amazing, you should still be able to play the latest games on reduced settings.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the bulky chassis and the screen?

Next day delivery too.

Scorching spec at an amazing price!

That is a great spec for the price but it's not that well built and it seems pretty bulky so I guess it would be okay as a desktop replacement due to thr screen size. Have some heat!

That is a great spec for the money. I was thinking of posting another of their laptops for £799 with the following spec:

Processor: Quad-core 2.5GHz Intel Core i7-4710MQ
RAM: 8GB
Size: 413x278x44mm
Weight: 3.2kg
Screen size: 17.3in
Screen resolution: 1,920x1,080
Graphics adaptor: 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M
Total storage: 240GB SSD, 1TB hard disk

Hard to justify paying near twice the price for the above spec (if you can live with the 1600x900 screen, lack of SSD and less powerful GPU). Good spot OP.

Great price but I find it very hard to recommend any computer that does not have an SSD or SSHD. HDD are such a bottleneck in performance

Swap the HDD out. SSDs are very cheap these days.

very nice spot.... 17 inch is not a laptop... you have to look at it as a portable pc. and yeah ssd to install into such unit is a peace of cake. just get one for less then 100£ here on hukd.. and forget about need to upgrade for at least 2 years.

We have a Dell 17.3 inch, love the size but the build has been terrible, looking for something else, have not found anything for this sort of price. Has anyone used them before? What is there warranty like and after service, that is usually why we go for Dell and they come out next day if there is any issues as we are not computer savvy!

You could just buy an ssd for £70 and use that instead.

Avoid windows 8 at all costs

This is very good spec, not sure hwat 900 screen i slike on 17inch. Just add an SSD and youre flying. you can also take out optical drive and have ssd and hdd combo.Graphics card is low end but still ok

PCS been around for years.

If you only use the Internet might want to have a look at chrome books. Super cheap, super fast, no viruses and very hard to break. Build quality is usually good for them as well.

Do you have to configure this laptop on the pc specialist site to get this deal?

Has it expired? cant find the deal with the link.

Why?

Avoid windows 8 at all costs

Windows 10 is out in October with free upgrade from Windows 7 and 8. So sticking with it for a few months on a new laptop isn't a problem.

cant find this deal. think its an error...thr price is for basic laptop.

how did you get this?

It's a great OS actually, maybe you should learn how to use it properly.

I agree, was anyone able to purchase it? Because I checked out Pc specialist a few weeks ago and the prices weren't this good, seems more like the price of the basic laptop.

If the price was £435- you could easily configure it (on the website) to have a full HD screen screen, and put in a SSD for ~£100 more couldn't you?

Classicshell or Start8, that is all.

I knocked it. Then installed one for someone and then fell in love. Especially with ssd. I bought 2 windows 8 retail editions.. one for laptop and one for my gaming rig.

I don't think this exists at the price. Im getting it at closer to the £650 mark.

Expire - this is NOT a deal - this is for basic spec, NOT i7 etc

The deal was for a prebuilt version of the laptop which was available this morning. Looks like it has sold out/been removed now.

shadders139

agreed, can't believe no-one checked it before voting hot

What?!? you expect people to check before clicking? that'll never work for those that click cold for every single deal

I cant seem to get this at the price mentioned, can anyone provide a direct link

There is nothing at all wrong with Windows 8. Continually referring other people's comments about the o/s may make one appear knowledgeable to the uninformed, but it doesn't actually help anyone.

Yes OP don't be silly as this deal was clearly for a canoe; I prefer an SSD in my canoes so no good for me.

I always miss the ACTUAL deals

I wouldn't kick yourself too much, it was definitely a good deal- but I just don't think anyone should consider getting a 1600x900 screen in 2015 (imo).

Just bought a PC specialist laptop for over 1k and I have to say I am very disappointed with the quality. The keyboard is crap with no full size return key, can only get the end key with pressing End, the arrow keys go into the number pad so you can hit the arrow key rather than 0. The touchpad buttons are cheap and nasty and make an annoying clicking noise. Also the laptop sometimes doesn't turn on without the charger in even when battery is full. My advise is to strongly avoid the brand.

As previously mentioned this deal has expired. It was for pre-built systems which PC Specialist had in stock for next day delivery and sold out of about 2 hours after I posted the deal.

I imagine once they build some more the deal will be back on so might be worth checking back in a week or so.

PC Specialists prebuilt systems are always cheaper then speccing it up on their laptop configurer yourself.
