For a review on RTX 2070 (and RTX generally) laptops:

Tldr: RTX cards are quite underclocked compared to their desktop variants, much more significantly so than the GTX series. The RTX 2070 max Q in a laptop delivers identical performance to a GTX 1070 in a laptop, with the ray tracing disabled. Just some info for anyone curious I've voted cold, myself, although it's not too far off being an okay deal.

Pc specialist good or bad cooling?

Pcspecialist are rebadged Clevos and Tongfangs. Clevo have a strong reputation for gaming notebooks with desktop level components cooled effectively.
voted cold , unfortunately the rtx series laptops do not add anything in matters of graphics on laptops , on several benches an rtx 2080 maxq was weaker than a 1080 full fledged , prices are sky high throttle due to cpu limits and gpu limits is valid therefore no real reason to buy this. i would reccomend a gl702vi over this

Voted hot to counter this. End of the day this is still a good deal for the spec if people want it. Recent DLSS update shows a huge boost in performance, even with ray tracing, which only these RTX cards can do. I understand your argument on pure value but this is still one of the best prices for over all spec.

To counter your counter: I started to buy from these guys last week and when they sussed I had a 1060 laptop already (I was chatting with a build technician discussing upping the RAM I ordered) they themselves suggested I cancel the order, as the 2070 wouldn't add much above a 1060 machine. "Sideways move", was the wording they used

Well if their own engineer is advising against it I can't argue with that but despite the small performance increase on laptops this gen compared to last, the RTX 2070 (non max-q) is still a lot more powerful than the 1060 in laptops. Every benchmark online confirms this. Whats people need to be aware of is the clock speeds out of the factory. Each manufacture can set these differently depending on the thermal design. Notebookcheck found the RTX 2070 Max-q in the new razer blade to be 15% faster than the same card in the new gigabyte aero 15 due to the clocks speeds out of the box. This could be the reasons for some disappointing results.

Your main point is right - if you're looking for a brand new gaming laptop then it's a great spec for the price, especially if it's genuinely not Max-Q. But if, like me, you're considering an upgrade then reconsider, I guess.

Agreed too. Not worth it if you already have last gen

I disagree that this is a good deal, with the specs on offer - the price vs performance margin is WAY under value. Especially considering that the mini RTX cards are suffering from such heavy backlash and Nvidia's only answer is to throw DLSS at it.

A Laptop of this spec I would expect to see for a maximum of £1350, portability and general laptop overprice nonsense included.
I think you would be lucky to pull even 5 extra frames off laptops with circa £500 LESS price tags in AAA games, and with RTX enabled, I'd expect those frames to once again be cut in half.

Upgrading the GPU in a mid range desktop makes sense to invest in an RTX card for the next 2-3 years but if you're going to be dropping £1600 on a laptop I'd avoid the RTX series like the plague. Nvidia is only going to stitch you up in 18 months time with the 7nm turing tech otherwise.

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion about how good the RTX laptops are.
The truth is that this is the cheapest laptop with full RTX 2070 available on the market today, so I've decided to buy it.
It's the same price as any known branded laptop equipped with the 1070.
If I was the owner of a laptop with the previous 10 series GPUs, it might not be worth the upgrade.
But for someone who's in the market for a gaming laptop this is a good deal at the current market rates.
Hot and bot! But changed the drive as it's adata non nvme by default. Best offer out there to get RTX 2070(laptop). Decent chassis, hardware and ports, others out there will make you compromise on something.
Been considering 15inch but with this thin bazel 17inch is just 40cm wide, almost the size of my out-dated 15inch laptop (but thinner). Can't wait to test it!

I also had a 15 inch before and I can say it's the exact same size.
If you decide to go for the 15 inch version of this laptop, please be careful as it only comes with the max-q version of the 2070, not the full laptop version like the 17 inch.

Sounds like a surprisingly honest company! It certainly makes me want to consider them for my next laptop so thanks for the feedback.
How reliable are PC Specialist and what’s their build quality like? Never heard of them before but specs look good for the price

Hmm so my order has completely disappeared from the website. Phoning them up he thinks the order might have been cancelled by them. Not off to a great start.
Currys also stock these machines. Not sure if the have exactly the same configurations but at least you have the options to pick up in store and the (dis)pleasure of dealing with their staff if anything is wrong.

It's the non max-q variant. So 10-15% faster than the 90W in the razer blade.

This is based off a Tongfang chassis. You may better know it as the laptops the Wallmart OP lineup is based off but don't let that put you off. People really do like those laptops. From what people have said, the cooling performance in this laptop is really good. I'm hopefully gonna pick one up in April
