Any wired controller can be used on an undocked Switch. You just have to get yourself a USB C (male) to USB A (female) adapter. These are pretty inexpensive.

I have bought quite a lot of third party controllers for the switch and my favourites have always been the PowerA ones. In particular the Enhanced Wired Controllers (Purple one posted for £7.99 the other day) provides a lot of comfort as well as a headphone jack. The wireless controllers are also comfy, but i still prefer the Official Pro Controller.

These rock candy ones are well built, but are smaller than a standard controller and so i wouldn;t recommend them for adult hands. The PowerA ones are much bulkier and better for adults.

Which ones don't 'drift'?

Which ones don't 'drift'?

Apart from my launch left joy con, I have not had any drift issues with my Switch controllers. BUT I do not use the Power A's as daily drivers so YMMV.

Yes - our left JC is the pain.
I managed to grab the Pineapple yellow one from Argos for my girlfriend.
It's a lot smaller than a xbox controller but she says it's better.
Done about 250 hours gaming on it so far, no issues with drift, buttons still work, and the cable (detachable) is still working fine.

These don't have any rumble in them though. We usually turn that off in games anyway so was actually pretty nice, but if you want that you're not going to get it from these.

There seems to be an issue with bringing the switch out from sleep using the wired control pad. You need to disconnect the controller cable and plug it back in before the switch allows you to 'wake it up' or you need to press the power button on the switch itself. Luckily, the cable plugs into the back of the controller so it's really simple to disconnect and reconnect when you want to power it on.
