Here is a review by Engadget for those who don't know what the Pebble is Pebble - Youtube

Cold, if you don't mind waiting a few extra days (delivery is still very quick) it's only $99 ordered direct from Pebble. Even including VAT at 20% it should still cost you less than £80 delivered.

True, but there's a high chance of import fees/taxes on imports.
I almost bought one direct but looked it up first - heard of some people having to cough up £50 in fees and/or taxes!

Since they reduced it to $99 they have changed it. Its now 129 euros direct from Pebble which is £100

It might also be worth noting that this morning the firmware was upgraded to 2.6 meaning background tasks are now available. Also Misfit Shine app and Jawbone Up functions now integrated through the app store for both Android and IOS. Fantastic time to buy.

don't need one....but want one.

prefer the steel!!

Mine is currently in a update loop trying to update to 2.6. This is also my second one.

For those who want to import from the US you will get stung with VAT and import / PO handling changes ( I was)

There was a post on here a while back about them being £80 new on ebay. Bought mine then, nice bit of kit.

I'd say check eBay as I know a couple of friends who've bought them for about the same price in recent months from there

Buy a real watch, this thing will look as dated as a slazenger jumper at a rock concert by the end of next year.

Had one since Kickstarter. Really good and more useful than I expected. Thanks to Joealdus for tipping me of about 2.6. I just upgraded.

Great device. Love mine. Always getting updated too. Now you not only get Jawbone support (turns it into an Up) but quick access to selected features when pressing and holding the top right and bottom right buttons. For me it's Music and Notifications. This is the only watch that works with both iOS and Android - and soon Windows Phone and has easily the best battery life of any other watch. You can charge it and forget about it for up to a week.

I should say 'any other smartwatch' as clearly a normal watch will last longer than a week unless faulty

It also has the e-paper screen which is the reason for the good battery life, and also gives excellent sunlight visibility. I think this was a really sensible design choice.

These are useless. Customer service is shocking also. First one I had arrived broken. Took a month and custom charges to get a new one. Don't know where either of them are, they are gimmick with no real use, soon buried in a wardrobe somewhere.

Just went through the cart process on amazon.com and the total price is £82.79. That price includes £13.80 for the import fees deposit and £4.93 for postage. The UK price is a rip-off.

You mean any other smartwatch.

Not that I'm disputing their achievement, but the prospect of having to remember charge my wristwatch every week is deeply offputting.

Amazing watch. Invested in it when it was on kickstarter.
Has not been off of my wrist.
If like me you are in a job where you a lot of the time I cant use my mobile phone having notifications pop up so you know who is calling, read a text or an email it does its amazing. Change music on your phone when running or cycling its one press of a button. Vibration alarm is excellent. You will never miss it vibrating.
One whole week of charge with two to three hours recharging time is another bonus. Easy to use, pair with your phone and looks stylish I would say go for it. Even though I have seen the moto watch and others the fact this has shuch a great display and long week lasting battery its the best so far.

I've included the 20% VAT you'll get charged in the overall price of less than £80. VAT makes up the bulk of the import fee.

Well well well...

Plan B. Buy from Amazon.com where as someone has already pointed out it's £82.75 including all import fees, VAT and postage and you'll get it in a week or so.

Unless you're in twenty quids worth of hurry I'd do it that way.

I see Pebble Steel (I own both and the steel is a much nicer watch) is £159.75 including all fees and postage. Nice.

Also at Firebox with TC & Quidco avaiable for same price £99.

Horses for courses. Mine is incredibly useful to me for lots of things.

No; it has an LCD screen pretending to be an e-paper screen...

Would any returns be more hassle from amazon.com?

Got mine from eBay for £88 a good few months ago. Though if I was to buy another I'd pay slightly more to get it from Amazon in case anything happened to it.

Love mine. Not tempted by an Android Wear / Apple Watch in the slightest.

You're confusing e-paper and e-ink. This LCD screen can be described as the former but not the latter.

I don't wear a watch but interested in this, was anyone in the same situation and do you now wear it daily?

I never wore a watch before. I feel lost without wearing my Pebble now :-$

Would this link in with HealthKit via Jawbone app etc.?

Was considering Apple Watch but may be over kill and could possibly wait for the second (and no doubt thinner with better battery life) incarnation.

another voice advising anyone to not order from the states, stung with £25 import duty

As for the watch these are fantastic and imho better than anything calling itself a wearable or smart watch on the market right now, and the battery lasts nearly a week before it needs recharging!

yes exactly, I'd never worn watches until getting a pebble now i never leave home without it

Wish it wasn;t so chunky looking

do these work for the golf apps/ gprs pre-set distances between holes? chosen clubs n stuff? ps im not a golfie as you can tell.

Bought the Pebble Steel while I was out in the states this year and I love it. It's great for notifications and I love the fact I only need to charge it once a week.

Is this as good as the Apple Watch?

Ordered the steel from America when they started taking preorders. Took about 3 months to ship and was stung with a £36 import fee (there's like a 50 page thread on the Pebble site). That aside its a fab watch with a battery life that's over a week.

Wrong on both counts.

Casio do several smart-ish watches. They connect via Bluetooth and work with iOS and 'Droid. (No idea about WP)

Battery life is rated at 2+ years for them.

Ditto Cookoo watches. iOS + 'Droid. Battery life rated at approx. 1 year.

Granted, both of these are more basic. But they're still smart(ish)watches. Think the Cookoo is around the same price as this. The Casio's, possibly slightly cheaper. I've been tempted by the Casio g-shock ones myself. If one came along that incorporated Bluetooth & solar power, I'd go for it.
